  • Psalm 23

    The LORD is my shepherd;

    I shall not want.

    He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:

    He leadeth me beside the still waters.

    He restoreth my soul:

    He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness

    for his name’s sake.

    Yea, though I walk through the valley

    of the shadow of death,

    I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;

    Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

    Thou preparest a table before me

    in the presence of mine enemies:

    Thou anointest my head with oil;

    my cup runneth over.

    Surely goodness and mercy

    shall follow me all the days of my life:

    and I will dwell

    in the house of the LORD for ever.

    CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR

    Walter Simp Gibsond DAD AT AN EARLY AGE f

    On Monday, May 19, 2014, God’s trumpet sounded, calling Walter “Gip” Simp Gibson, Sr. home to glory. He was born on January 14, 1919 in Waynesboro, Georgia to the late Simp Gibson and Annie Mae Weaver. One brother, Phillip Gibson, also preceded him in death.

    He joined McKinney Branch Baptist Church at an early age. Also at an early age he met and married the late Lucille Kelly, and to this union the Lord blessed them with five children, Bernice, Ann, Bessie, Walter, Jr., and Dot.

    He earned a living as a construction worker, but was known as a handy man in his neighborhood. He performed many odd jobs, including auto mechanic, for neighbors, family and friends.

    d GETTING TO KNOW DAD f

    Dad was a stern yet jovial person, even though he insisted upon strict discipline. At the end of the day, he usually had a joke to make us laugh. He taught us right from wrong and definitely insisted that we go to church every Sunday. He was tenacious.

    He and our late mother were married for seventy-one years, and they truly loved each other.

    d DAD’S LOVED ONES f

    Those left to cherish Dad’s precious memories are; five children, Bernice Kelly Evans, Ann Gibson Foster, Bessie Gibson Stephenson (Harry), Walter Gibson, Jr. (Valerie) and Dot Gibson Pollard (Mack); brother-in-law, Dock Kelly (Kim); sisters-in-law, Barbara Kelly and Angela Warthen; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren - Granddaddy’s bloodline lives on!!
