The Eagle Scout award is the highest rank one canattain as a member of the Boy Scouts of America, andrequires earning at least 21 merit badges, as well as orga-nizing and completing a community service project.Dempsey designed a memorial garden for fallen soldierson the grounds of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Hewanted it to be a treasured reminder of the ways inwhich all our lives have been touched by those we haveloved and lost. He personally wanted to find a way tohonor these men and women for their sacrifices and forserving our country.

Neither rain-storms, sleet, nor blizzardskept her from going to work.She had not been late onceduring all those years, untilrecently when her alarmfailed to awaken her.

She is currently workingat the Holiday Inn whichwill become the Clarion Innon Aug. 15.

The objectives of the Youth Entrepreneurial Academywere to expose students to entrepreneurship, providestudents with an opportunity to apply their skills andcreativity, help students understand critical thinkingskills and give students another career option of being a“job creator” instead of a “job taker.”

Funding for the 2010 Youth Entrepreneur Academywas provided by the John K. and Luise V. Hanson Foun-dation and the NIACC JPEC. Students were able to earntwo semester credit hours for attending the Academy ora $500 scholarship for classes taken at NIACC.
