parent company operations in USA/UK. He worked extensively on new initiatives in the areas of Sales Processes and Team Capability Building, Global Sourcing, Branding, Market Access Programs and was a member of core team for restructuring the Business Model for the Indian Operations.

His last Corporate Assignment was as Chief Executive Officer with the leading Indian Internet Job Portal JobsAhead.com. He was instrumental in engineering a successful turnaround strategy, which enabled a takeover by Monster.com the World’s largest Job Portal.

Post leading a successful integration, between the two companies, Rajiv moved on in February 2005 into the role of a practitioner in the areas of Sales, Marketing, HR, Organisation Development and Business Strategy Formulations and Manufacturing Excellence and is associated closely with diverse industries both in Service and Manufacturing Sectors. Sanjiv Mital is a ICT industry veteran, with close to 30 years experience in this highly dynamic space.

Sanjiv orchestrated India’s first management buy-out, taking the helm of Comviva (formerly

Bharti Telesoft) in 2001 - a time when the company was facing a very uncertain future, due to the downturn in the overall ICT market. He was instrumental in changing the direction of the company from generic software services to focus on VAS solutions for the telecom industry. Comviva was one of the first companies to realize the value of emerging markets, and started addressing the markets of India, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. This was a highly successful strategy with these markets exhibiting rapid growth to drive over subscriber uptake in the global mobile industry.

Having effected a turn-around, Comviva was able to attract significant VC interest, and Sequoia and Cisco invested in the company in 2005. As a result, Comviva was able to grow its revenues 20-fold in a 7 year period. In 2008, Sanjiv took on strategic responsibilities as Vice Chairman of the organization and in 2009, Sanjiv exited the company to establish Saarthi Enterprises, a mentoring and consultancy

venture.

Sanjay Anandaram is the Managing Director of JumpStartUp Fund Advisors. He currently works with startups as a mentor and angel investor and as an advisor to a few VC funds. He has close to two decades of experience as an entrepreneur, corporate executive and venture capital investor. 

He is a founding principal of JumpStartUp Venture Fund one of the first early stage VC funds with an interest in India. Some of JumpStartUp’s investments include CustomerAsset (ICICI Onesource/Firstsource), Jareva (Veritas/Symantec), Netkraft (Adea Solutions), Netdevices (Alcatel), and Aarohi (Emulex).

India and started Venturekatalyst, India’s first e-magazine aimed at entrepreneurs.

He also set up distribution and OEM channels for Wipro products in the Middle East, Africa and the Far East.

During the build-out of the company’s software business, Krishnakumar conceptualized and implemented the e-commerce division of Wipro, developing a team of 250 people and generating $30 million in revenues annually within a year.

Krishnakumar also helped architect Wipro’s entry into leading-edge financial institutions such as American Express and Goldman Sachs. While serving as Group Vice President of human resources, Krishnakumar increased the number of employees in Wipro’s software services business from 800 to 4,000 people in a short time.

Krishnakumar has been elected to the Executive Council of NASSCOM - an apex industry body representing over 1200 IT services companies and works towards strengthening India’s position in IT through key strategic global initiatives. At NASSCOM, he also chairs the ‘Emerging Companies’ Forum helping the Indian industry build a globally competitive ecosystem comprising of both large and emerging companies.

After a 22-year international career founding, leading and driving the growth of Internet, enterprise software, and mobile infrastructure companies, Sharad has a keen sense of which

Before joining Canaan, Sharad served as CEO of Yahoo! India R&D, where he was responsibile for product engineering for emerging markets and led the development of several global products and platforms (including image search, search monetization, HotJobs, participation platforms and feed platforms). Previously, Sharad worked in the buyout sector, helping take mid-sized software companies private. Before that, he was the India General Manager and Vice President of Product Operations at Symantec, and was responsible for the turnaround of Symantec’s Veritas Software operations in India.

As an entrepreneur himself, Sharad knows first-hand the rewards and challenges of managing high-growth technology startups. Earlier in his career, Sharadwas co-founder and CEO of

Teltier Technologies, a New Jersey-based wireless infrastructure startup that became the leader in the presence and availability management industry and is now part of Cisco. Prior to co-founding Teltier, Sharad managed product development teams at Lucent Technologies, both in US and India. He also set up AT&T’s (and later Lucent’s) R&D organizations in India in the mid-90s, at a time when offshore product development was just getting underway.

Sharad started his career with DCM Data Products in the company’s software R&D group in New Delhi, where he worked on developing UNIX server platforms based on the i86 architecture. Later, he had a stint as an early-stage employee with an Apple-supported startup, where he learned the hard way how the absence of marketing skills can derail even the best product business.

Sharad holds a degree in Electrical Engineering
