Deputy N6/ JTF-519 J6 Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet

Captain Katherine M. Donovan hails from a Navy family in Columbia, Maryland. She is a graduate of Purdue University having earned a degree in Bio-medical Engineering. A Naval ROTC midshipman, CAPT Donovan received her commission upon graduation in August 1982. In 1998 Captain Donovan completed her graduate study and earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Troy State University. Additionally, she is a graduate of the Naval War College where she completed all Phase I Joint Qualification requirements through the non-resident program.

CAPT Donovan transitioned to the Information Professional (IP) community in

2001 and achieved her IP Advance Qualification in September 2004. She holds subspecialty designations in Information Technology Management, Antisubmarine Warfare (as an Integrated Undersea Surveillance System (IUSS) specialist), Scientific Technical Intelligence, and Manpower Analysis. Her IP assignments included Communications Officer at U.S. Naval Facility Keflavik, Iceland; Deputy N6 (Command and Control, Computers, Communications, Combat Systems and Information Warfare) with Commander, Strike Group 12 and C4I (Command and Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence) system installations and Enterprise Architecture at Commander, Naval Network Warfare Command (NETWARCOM). CAPT Donovan is currently assigned as Deputy N6 for Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet and as JTF 519 J6.

Prior to re-designation, CAPT Donovan’s career focused on Fleet operations

within the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) arena at U.S. Naval Facility Keflavik, Iceland; COMOCEANSYSLANT and COMUNDERSEASURV located in Virginia; U.S. Naval Facility Brawdy, Wales, and Naval Ocean Processing Facility (NOPF) Dam Neck as Executive Officer and Commanding Officer. She served as a CTF 84 Watch Officer and IUSS Liaison Officer for COMPATWINGSLANT and as Flag Secretary to President, Board of Inspection and Survey at Little Creek, Virginia.

CAPT Donovan’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (4

awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards) and Outstanding Volunteerism Medal.

Captain Donovan is married to Captain Jim Donovan and they reside with their

children in Wahiawa, Hawaii.

Captain Jim Donovan

Commanding Officer, Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station, Pacific

A native of North Quincy, Massachusetts, Captain Donovan enlisted in the Navy in July 1973 as a Seaman Recruit. He advanced through the enlisted ranks as an Ocean Systems Technician (Analyst) filling assignments within the Integrated Undersea Surveillance System (IUSS) including: Fleet Sonar School, Key West, Florida; NAVFACs Bermuda, Keflavik, Iceland, and Barbers Point, Hawaii; and Readiness Training Facility, Centerville Beach, California. He achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer in September 1981.

Captain Donovan was commissioned as a Limited Duty Officer in March 1983 and reported to U.S. Naval Facility, Keflavik, Iceland. Follow on tours include staff, Commander, Oceanographic Systems, Atlantic in Virginia and U.S. Naval Facility, Wales. In 1994, Captain Donovan transferred to the General Unrestricted Line (Fleet Support) Community and was assigned to Naval Ocean Processing Facility, Dam Neck, Virginia as Operations Department Head. In October 1995, he reported for his third tour at Keflavik, Iceland where he served as Executive Officer and as the last Commanding Officer for U. S. Naval Facility Keflavik. In 1997, Captain Donovan was assigned to the staff of Commander in Chief, U.S. Atlantic Fleet in Norfolk, Virginia. In August 1999, he assumed command of Naval Ocean Processing Facility, Dam Neck, Virginia. Following a subsequent 3-year tour as Chief Staff Officer, Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station, Atlantic (NCTAMS LANT) in Norfolk, Captain Donovan was assigned to Naval Network Warfare Command (NETWARCOM), Little Creek, Virginia as Director of Training and Community Sponsorship. On 15 July 2005, Captain Donovan assumed command of Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station, Pacific (NCTAMS PAC). Captain Donovan is a graduate of the Naval War College, the University of the State of New York, and Troy State University where he earned a Master of Science in Management. Personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (5 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Good Conduct Medal (2 awards).

Captain Donovan is married to Captain Kathy Donovan and they reside with their children in Wahiawa, Hawaii.
