Key Highlights Somalia No cVDPV-2 or cVDPV-3 isolated from AFP cases and contacts in 2019 A total of 46 AFP cases have been reported in 2019, 13 were reported this week. Of the 46 total reported cases, 31 were discarded, and 15 are in the lab for processing. There are no PV-2 or PV-3 isolated from AFP cases or contacts in 2019. A total of 12 ES samples were collected and sent to the lab in 2019 from the 4 ES sites. Eight are negatve, 3 have EV, and 1 has aVDPV2. The ES sample with aVDPV2 (ES/SOM/BAN/HDN/EGH/19/003) was collected on 03 Feb. 2019 from Egyptan hos- pital ES site Kenya A total of 101 AFP cases reported in 2019; Natonal Non-polio AFP rate is at 2.95 & Stool adequacy of 92.0%; both meetngs recommended targets. There are 39 countes 39 (83%) which has detected an AFP case Jan-March 2019. 55% (26) of the countes that have reported AFP cases in Yr 2019 have Non - polio AFP rate of >= 2/100,000, while 74% (37) have stool adequacy of >= 80%. Overall, 47% (22) countes have achieved the target for both AFP key indica- tors. Partnerships and coordinaton of Polio and GHSA actvites during the week; Partcipated in the Kenya MOH Polio SIAs technical planning meetng at the EOC. The meetng proposed the frst round of the second phase in 2019 as for April 27- May 1, 2019 targetng vaccinaton of 26, 535, 712 U-5 children in 11 high-risk coun- tes in Kenya (Turkana, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Isiolo, Garissa, Lamu) Conducted BCC training for 16 CGPP Kenya and Somalia project staf in Nairobi. The training was facilitated by Rina (CGPP-India) & Lydia (CGPP-HQ) CGPP External Evaluaton Consultant, Erma Manoncourt in Kenya to conduct meetngs, interviews, and feld visits. CGPP Secretariat team partcipated in the weekly GPEI HOA partners & Tripartte meetng organized by WHO-HOA ofce. CGPP project team partcipated in a microplanning and mapping exercise in Garissa atended by WHO, MOH and CGPP Secretariat representatve. Partcipated in the USAID/CDC Africa/CGPP meetng at Jacaranda Hotel, Nairobi on possible collaboraton and coordinaton with CGPP on community -based surveil- lance in Turkana and Wajir. Coordinaton meetng between CGPP and WHO Somalia atended by among others the WHO Somalia, WHO HOA surveillance coordinator, Dr. Jenna (WHO Consultant) and Angelo Ghelardi, Communicaton expert from UNICEF ESARO. Somalia

Challenges

Looming drought affecting project implementation as pastoralists priority has changed and high move-ment in search of water and pasture for their livestock.

Poor network communication is affecting ODK reporting tools. Lack of refrigerators in Hamey and Banane Kokar Dispensaries (Garissa County) Movement restriction due to fear of Insurgent attacks in Lower Juba.

CGPP-HoA Secretariat

Participate in the weekly GPEI HOA Tripartite meeting on the second phase Po-lio campaign preparation.

Participate in the MOH Polio SIAs planning meeting. CORE Group and Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) USAID focal point per-
