GENERAL ISSUES
1. Camdeboo Municipality have implemented a Water Conservation and Demand Management Programme
- Project commenced 2011/2012 with great success
- Further funding required to continue with project
2. Sustainable water supply for Karoo Cluster (Camdeboo, Baviaans, Ikhwezi and Blue Crane) needs to be solicited
3. Retention of staff – Engineers
- Electricians
- Fitters
- Process Controllers
- Mechanical Staff
4. Regulatory factors – over regulated
- believe in quality
- cost of complying
- water and wastewater master plans
- stormwater ingress to sewer systems
- implementation and monitoring of bore holes
– Groundwater management
– Resource Directed Measures (RDM)
5. Replacement of Assets – Especially vehicles and construction plant, treatment plants and reticulation systems – limited funds
6. Limited funding when applying for grant funding
- Municipalities do not have funding for “Social Component”
of grant
7. Control and Monitoring of Industries
- Implementation of By-Laws
- Especially Abattoirs
- No experience or qualified staff
8. Licensing of WTW, Boreholes, WWTW a slow process
- Applications are submitted without feedback.
9. On Positive side
- Grateful for support from RRU
