Don’t put it off any longer, schedule your Tee-time at Turkey Creek Golf Course , 1000 Fox Run Drive today! It’s easy to squeeze a round or two into a busy day with summer hours from 6:30am to 8pm. The City acquired the golf course as a generous donation from the Chet Anderson family, adding even more beautiful assets to McPherson. As PGA Class A Golf Professional John Hastert commented, it was a wonderful opportunity for the City and adds even more to the community. During the Chamber Coffee and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Turkey Creek Golf Course , Chamber members browsed the new selections at the Hastert Golf Shop while learning about the expanded concession menu and upcoming programs. Golf Professional, John Hastert, will be offering youth golf lessons and a ladies golf clinic. Sign up for these at the McPherson Family YMCA or contact John at 241-8530 to schedule individual golf lessons. More information about Turkey Creek Golf Course can be found on their website www.golfturkeycreek.com. This site provides the current weather conditions, fees, rules, course maps and will even have Tee-time reservation capabilities soon. Because his golf abilities aren’t always up to par either, Mayor Tom Brown hopes to involve the community so even non-golfers can enjoy the beautiful area. The Mayor provided insight on the Turkey Creek logo which displays 7 feathers, representing Mr. & Mrs. Chet Anderson and their 5 children. Because Turkey Creek Golf Course is owned by the City, it had the capability to adjust fees for the MHS golf team and will be assisting with a fund raiser in the future to help fill the financial needs of the MHS golf program and MHS swim team. Thank you Turkey Creek, for finding ways to give back to the community. Turkey Creek Golf Course grounds supervisor, Jason Buschbom elaborated on the improvements to the T-box on 18, and fairway on 16. He thanked the departments who have helped make these improvements possible and is already working on plans for future course upgrades. Kudos to the Parks Dept., Street Dept., and Water Dept. for their part in improving the course and Anne Hassler, CVB executive director, for her time and efforts in marketing Turkey Creek Golf Course . Chamber members who received door prizes from the golf shop include: Nick Gossnell (KNGL/KBBE McPherson Radio), Neil Dykes (Midway Motors Supercenter), Kim Unruh (McPherson Sentinel), Carver Swindoll (Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Lloyd), Lisa Starr (Team Employment), Jerry Meng (Home State Bank and Trust), Chet Lang (Sunflower Bank), Chris Elliott (Elliott Insurance and Real Estate) Honor Smith (Peoples Bank and Trust), and Mary Steffes (Fee Insurance, and McPherson Co. Humane Society). Next week we will draw for a $45 ChamberCheck since Carma Wall (The Cedars) was not present to claim the ChamberCheck this week. We leave you with a challenge. PLEASE do your part to help Turkey Creek Golf Course show profits this year and watch the Mayor fulfill his promised incentive, to take a swim… January 2011.
