CRITERIA FOR SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION Attendance to presentations and submission of an evaluation of attended sessions is required for successful completion. Program evaluations must be completed and submitted electronically within seven days after the program. An e-mail with the URL link to the evaluation will be sent to registered guests. Changing Practice Through Nursing Research
Elaine Miller Dr. Elaine Miller is a professor of nursing at the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing. She also is the editor of Rehabilitation Nursing, the official refereed scholarly journal of the Association of Rehabilitation Nursing, having held this position since August 2003.
Dr. Miller is recognized as an expert in the area of evidence-based practice and its translation into practice. She is certified in rehabilitation and gerontological nursing. For more than 25 years, she has had nationally funded intervention research on topics such as reduction of modifiable stroke risk factors, pressure ulcer prevention in long-term care settings and caregiving research that improves the quality of life and outcomes of primarily physically impaired older adults.
Dr. Miller was elected as a Fellow of the American Heart Association in 2003 and the American Academy of Nursing in 2005. In 2010, she was the first author of the “Comprehensive Overview of Nursing and Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Care of Stroke Patients,” a Scientific Statement of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) and received the Article of the Year Award for the Cardiovascular Nursing Council of AHA for this effort. Throughout her career, she has received numerous other awards, such as the Edna Stilwell’s Award from the Journal of Gerontological Nursing and Slack Incorporated and the Competence in Aging Award from the Cardiovascular Council of the AHA. Moreover, Dr. Miller has been invited to participate in NIH and Medicare expert panels pertaining to stroke outcomes and health care disparities.
Purpose: To enhance nursing knowledge through learning about current research and practice trends within clinical and education nursing.
