Annual Communication is just around the corner; October 13 to 15 th . As always there are certain Lodge matters we must take up. First: Past MastersVote -- All Past of Masters of Channel Islands Lodge (or its predecessor lodges), are entitled to one cumulative (one group) vote on each legislation item. Any Past Master who will be attending Annual Communica- tion please let me or the Senior Warden know. We will be selecting a Past Mas- ter to cast the Past Mastersvotes at the September or October Stated Meeting. Second: New legislation. This year there are · Carry-Over Resolutions from 2016 and New Resolutions for 2017 · Report of the Committee on Finance · Recommendations for Grand Treasurer, Grand Secretary and Grand Lecturer · Notice of the dates of future Annual Communications There are nine legislation resolutions to consider. Some resolutions cover more than one topic so there are 12 top- ics to vote on. A couple of the most in- teresting, to me at least, are position of the hands when taking the 3 rd degree obligation (the recommended position will only be divulged at Annual Com- munication), a twenty percent reduction in life membership fees (Channel Is- lands Lodge life membership fees al- ready meet the CMC requirements), All Master Masons in good standing in any constituent lodge in California be made voting members of Grand Lodge, Any Lodge meeting, except degree specific meetings, can be held on any degree at the discretion of the Master; IE stated meetings can be on 1 st , 2 nd or 3 rd de- gree. A summary of each legislation item will be presented at the September or October Stated Meeting and Brethren discussion and input solicited. Our menu for the September Stated Meeting Dinner will be: Hawaiian Luau - BBQ Marinated Shredded Beef, Macaroni Salad, Hawai-ian Rice, Cut Fruit.

Reservations are required and must be paid for if you attend the dinner or not. Reservations must be made by 5 PM on the Wednesday before the Stated Meeting. To cancel or change your Reservation please contact the Treasurer by 5 PM on the Wednesday before the Stated Meet-ing. There are 2 easy ways to make a reservation. 1. On the Lodge Web Site (ChannelIslandsLodge214.org) on the "Dinner Reservations" page. Be sure to indicate the type and number of meals you would like.

Saturday July 22nd the Lodge sponsored an Youth Appreciation Dance for our local Youth Groups. There was food, music and games for all. Youth Groups members from the Job’s Daughter and the DeMolay plus some prospects enjoy a fun evening.

Cost: $40 per person, net proceeds go to the Gold Coast Raising a Reader Program. Attire: Men: Coat and Tie - Women: appropriate dinner attire.
