Chapter 10 “The Lion” Magazine Recognizes the Pin Traders What you see and read on the following pages represents the partnership that we in the LITPC presently share with our friends at the LCI headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois. Prior to this, about the only coverage or mention the LITPC received in “The Lion” was an occasional abbreviated membership form that appeared about once a year. As you can readily see, thanks to the editorial staff of “The Lion”, the rest of Lionism has certainly been exposed to our dynamic organization. It is our hope that these articles are just an excellent beginning of the dialogue that we seek and need in our quest to be recognized as Lions first and pin traders second. 10-i

“The Lion” Magazine Recognizes the Pin Traders In the November 2006 issue of the North American issue of “The Lion” magazine, an interview with Harry Fulwiler, Virginia, high-lighted the pin trading community in a way that we had never seen before. We have reproduced the front cover, which incidentally portrays former American President, Lion PDG Jimmy Carter, on the cover. The interview with Fulwiler is also reproduced herein to preserve this historical breakthrough. In addition, and at the risk of repetition, we thought it would be interesting to take the same interview from the March-April edition of the South Pacific issue of the magazine to show you just how coverage such as this reaches the four corners of the world of Lionism. This version of the interview is show on the succeeding pages following the North American version. This is once again evidence of the progress we pin traders have made over the years since our beginning back in 1973.

“The Lion” Magazine Recognizes the Pin Traders - 2008 Free Lance writer for “The Lion” magazine, Erin O’Donnell, provided six pages of coverage in the Septembers 2008 issue of the North American edition of “The Lion” on interviews she had with four pin traders. They were PDG Larry Shaull, LITPC President at the time, Past President PCC Bill Smith, Virginia, Lion Verle Malik, Virginia, and PDG Bob Showers, Wisconsin. We under-stand that she attempted, without success, to interview several other pin traders. This type of coverage adds to our belief that the pin trading community within Lionism is continuing to make giant strides in being widely recognized as a viable entity. We realize that many pin traders have read the article in detail and repeating it can be viewed as repetitious . However, for historical purposes we are preserving it herein.
