Chapter 17 A) What did Heck testify for Mr.Gilmer? What point did Atticus clarify through him? Heck testified that lB) What did Bob Ewell testify? What did Atticus ask (regarding injuries)? Bob claims that Tom Robinson has raped and beaten his daughter Mayella. According to Bob Ewell's testimony, he returned to his house and through the window he saw Tom raping Mayella."I seen that black nigger yonder ruttin' on my Mayella!" lC) What personal question did Atticus ask him? How did he respond? Why was this asked? The personal question Atticus asked Bob Ewell was whether he was ambidextrous which means being able to use ones right and left hand equally Bob doesn't understand the meaning of the word so he replies saying that he is positively not and then goes to say that he can use both of his hands well. He was asked this question because it makes him look guilty and proves that there is a chance that he himself could have beaten Mayella up and framed Tom Robinson.
