The progressions and skills taught in the LJCC JAWS Swim School have been designed while keeping the overall developmental needs and stages in mind.

All lessons are implemented and taught by highly skilled and trained instructors. Our swim school classes are designed for swimmers age 3 and up. Swimmers

progress through different levels learning water safety and proper stroke technique in all four competitive strokes. Group classes are between 2-5 students per coach

(depending on level) and are 45 minutes in duration. Private lessons are also available.

Swim Instruction for EVERYONE...at the Levine JCC JAWS Swim School

Upon enrollment, each child will receive a “swim” bag to carry his/her swim gear. As a child completes the goals for each level, he/she will

receive a ribbon of completion to attach to his/her bag.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, drowning is the second leading cause of injury related death among children ages 1-4. The LJCC Jaws Swim School’s number one goal is to teach your child to swim, therefore increasing his/her chance of not becoming part of that statistic.

Swim Instruction for EVERYONE...at the Levine JCC JAWS Swim School

Youth Swim Lessons

The progressions and skills taught in the LJCC JAWS Swim School have been designed while keeping the overall developmental needs and stages in mind.

All lessons are implemented and taught by highly skilled and trained instructors. Our swim school classes are designed for swimmers age 3 and up. Swimmers

progress through different levels learning water safety and proper stroke technique in all four competitive strokes. Group classes are between 2-5 students per coach

(depending on level) and are 45 minutes in duration. Private lessons are also available.

Youth Group Swim LessonsAges: 5-10 year olds. Goggles and swim cap suggested.

Details: Youth classes are great for children who have not had the opportunity to learn to swim at a young age as well as for those that wish to become better swimmers.

Designed for children to learn in an environment appropriate to their age and developmental level. Suggested age to begin this journey is between

5-6 years of age. Our lessons are divided into 3 class groups with specifics goals – beginner, intermediate & advanced.

Select your desired lesson day/s (below); our trained instructors will assign your child’s class level based

on his/her ability on the first day of class.

Beginner For the very beginner swimmer, or those who are uncomfortable in the water. Instructors work on basic water adjustment.

Intermediate For the swimmer who is comfortable in the water, and has completed or can perform beginner youth skills.

Advanced For the swimmer who can comfortably swim front crawl and backstroke using over arm stroke in deepwater but who needs help with refining their strokes, learn the breaststroke, and butterfly. Advanced classes prepare your child for future aquatic adventures like water sports, boating sports, boy scouts swim badges or even their first job as a lifeguard. Children with higher levels of stroke technique, endurance and experience will gain more respect of the water environment and have a higher awareness of water safety.

Mon & Wed (12 classes) 3:30-4:15pmApril 7 - May 21 No class 4/14 & 4/16

Tue & Thu (12 classes) 3:30-4:15pmApril 8 - May 22 No class 4/15 & 4/17

Friday (6 classes) 3:30-4:15pmApril 11 - May 23 No class 4/18

Sunday (6 classes)11:45am-12:30pmApril 6 - May 18 No class 4/13

Upon enrollment, each child will receive a “swim” bag to carry their swim gear. As a child completes the goals for each level, they will

receive a ribbon of completion to attach to their bag.

All levels/classes include water safety skills and games. Introduction to all strokes is done progressively

and adapt to child’s ma turity level.

Personal Training Services @ the

Three years ago I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. I went through Chemo and had six surgeries. My body took quite a beating. Over the following two years I pretty much lost most of my strength and endurance and also gained a lot of weight. When you deal with a catastrophic illness you have a choice: you can feel pity for yourself or you can pick yourself up and fight. But it is a fight you cannot and should not fight alone. Finally, this June, I felt ready to start over and I found exactly the right people to help me on my journey back to strength. I met with Lyn Addy twice a week. Slowly Lyn, a true firecracker and bundle of positive energy, started to build me up.Three months into my workout I was talked into participating in the gym’s month long fitness challenge, working every week on something new with a different trainer. This is when I really got

to know the entire staff of the Gym. What an amazing crew! Nowhere else have I found so much support, laughter and knowledge than here at our very own JCC. These days I am training with Renaldo Turnbull, a stickler for forms. I know he will push me further than I ever could have imagined. I don’t know where my physical journey will end but I know it is continuing to be one heck of a ride; a ride I never would have been able to major on my own.

Butterfly Project Reflection Card:

The idea that stuck out the

most in my head today was the

fact that the program takes

the time to remember each child

so individually by saying their

name. It is important that

they aren’t just another number.

It was a phenomenal, unique experience to be able to listen to a Holocaust survivor speak, and also one of great value, since we won’t have much more time to hear them. It was amazing how she remembers the fear that she felt at such a young age, because of how terrible it was, The butterflies are a great representation of the freedom and peace that we feel today, after such a horrible time.
