41 - 063Generation of Organozinc Carbenoids from Acetals and Ketals. —Acetals and ketals (I) are used as precursors for organozinc carbenoids whichare trapped by cyclohexene giving a mixture of diastereomers (III) and (IV). Inthe absence of trapping agents, a direct conversion to alkenes (VI) and (VIII)is obtained. The results show a dominating role of the acetal in the reaction. While acetal (Va) gives good yield, the analogous (Vb) is almost inert. —(MOTHERWELL, W. B.; O’MAHONY, D. J. R.; POPKIN, M.
