CED mining uses electro deposition to remove high value commodity metals from toxic mine water, such as that found in JHB

CED mining also results in bi-products of high current, low voltage electricity, large amounts of hydrogen, iron compounds used to make pig iron and the detoxification of the mine water.

CED mining uses simple and relatively inexpensive technology to achieve this objective, which can be a profit generating endeavour.

CED mining is a workable technology, that uses sound science to achieve this objective, it is not pseudo-science, magic or impossible.

CED involves pumping up acidic toxic mine water (which acts as an electrolyte) to a channel complex, and using a sacrificial iron anode to displace dissolved metals from solution, the metals that are displaced from solution are electrodeposited onto a mining nut substrate cathode.

This process causes the iron to be dissolved into solution, and in the process helps detoxify the mine water, resulting in a less toxic suspension of colloidal iron particles.

The process also causes a low voltage current, conducted between the anode (sacrificial iron) and cathode (mining nut), and also causes hydrogen to be released from the solution.

Using the channel complex design causes different metals to be separated in different stages of the channel complex, which could result in more economical and efficient recovery and separation of high value commodity metals.

A suitably qualified and open minded team of scientists need to investigate the following: Chromatographic or Photospectrometrical analysis of

mine water to investigate the composition of a few samples of mine water with the objective to find out concentrations of certain metals in solution, with respect to extraction economically using CED Mining.

Demonstrate whether or not bi-products such as electricity, hydrogen and ferrous compounds suitable for economical iron extraction can contribute to the feasibility of a commercial operation.

Demonstrate that it may be possible to de-toxify the mine water to a level suitable for further economic refinement of palatable water supplies and/or release into the natural environment.

The objective for the research will be to demonstrate that CED Mining could be used as a new environmentally friendly and economically viable way of extracting commercially valuable raw materials from mine waste, or that CED Mining will not be a feasible option.

Due to the complex matrix of compounds in solution, separation may not be feasible – please enquire about the Channel Complex Design for my technology to reduce this problem.

Large amounts of ferrous colloids cannot be introduced into the water supply – please enquire about Shockwave Colloidal Extraction Machine in this regard.

Copper/Nickel is very expensive, could this negate the feasibility – please enquire about the Mining Nut Cycling Process in this regard.

Sub terrain change of stress factors could result in increased seismic threats – please enquire about Silt Pumping/ Displacement Pumping in this regard.

Toxic filled abandoned mining operations pose the following threats (includes but not limited to): Toxic compounds causing environmental hazard if

introduced into natural water ways. Seismic Threat – as a result of pumping mine water out of

the mines this will cause a change in stress loading of sub terrestrial structures.

A Gold Mine of opportunity – literally (at least in JHB) Due to the potential rich resource of high value commodity

metals and the economical extraction using the CED Mining methodology this may be a very good investment.

Additional bi-products of electrical power, hydrogen and ferrous compounds could contribute to the financial viability of such a plan .

CED Mining – Chemo-Electro-Deposition Mining, a collection of technologies, engineering and scientific methodologies used to recover metals, de-toxify water, generate electricity and produce hydrogen from toxic mine water.

Mining Nuts – Copper or Copper/Nickel Alloy balls that act as cathodes Channel Complex (Design) – A facility in the CED mining operation that is used for the

processing of mining water for the purposes of extracting metals, generating electricity, producing/collecting hydrogen and de-toxifiyng water. Can be considered the heart of the operation.

Sacrificial Anode Conveyor System – a conveyor system that scrap iron metal is conveyed through the channel complex for the purposes of creating an anode and displacing dissolved metals with iron ions.

Shockwave Colloidal Extraction Machine – an system that uses high amplitude sonic interference harmonics to accelerate the coagulation and sedimentation of colloids in suspension.

Silt Pumping/Displacement Mining – the act of returning mine dump rock to the mine in order to maintain/decrease seismic threat levels and reduce energy requirements of pumping out mine water

Mine Water – a complex acidic solution that includes a large percentage of the entire periodic table, including high value commodity metals. This mine water is very toxic and a hazard to the environment.

Settling Dam – an area in which processed mine water can be further de-toxified by means of natural organic processes by mean of aquatic plants , microorganisms and animals

Final Stage Water Purification Plant – the water purification plant that ensures that the water can be safely re-introduced into water supplies or water ways.

Ferro-Fluid Transformer – an installation that adjusts voltage of Channel Complex output for suitable conversion to AC current for operational considerations and electrical supply to the main power grid.
