Healthy Beginnings Childbirth & Parenting Classes Meet Your Childbirth Educator Kandi Bloss, RN is a Certified Lactation Counselor and graduate of the Community College of Denver. She is also certified in Inpatient Obstetrical Nursing and currently working on her Bachelors of Nursing at Grand Canyon University. Kandi is part of the Healthy Start Advisory Committee and Healthy Children Hawai‘i Committee. With over 20 years of experience as a nurse, Kandi has expertise in postpartum and nursery, as well as labor and delivery in a hospital setting. For the last 16 years, she has specialized in helping mothers and babies. Breastfeeding Support Servicesand Consultation

$50 per session (complimentary to babies born at

Wilcox Memorial Hospital). Women & Infants’ Health

Center, 4th floor.

Breastfeeding your newborn is a very special

experience. Learn about the advantages of nursing

your baby as well as breastfeeding equipment and

supplies and the specific techniques that will help

promote successful breastfeeding. Our lactation

specialist will provide one-to-one assistance focused

on getting your breastfeeding experience off to a

great start. Moms, dads, grandparents and babies are

welcome to attend at the Women & Infants’ Health

Center on the 4th floor of Wilcox Memorial Hospital.

Promoting successful breastfeeding and healthy

beginnings is our goal at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.

Medela products are available at the gift shop.

4-Week Series: $100

Classes are held on consecutive Tuesdays

6 – 8:30 p.m.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

Learn how to prepare for labor, birth and early

parenthood in a class with other expectant

parents. Over the course of 4 weeks, we will be

discussing and practicing body conditioning,

relaxation and breathing techniques, along with:

n Warning signs

n Labor and delivery

n Cesarean birth

n Postpartum issues

n Newborns

n Breastfeeding

n Medications and hospital procedures

You will explore your new role as a parent as well

as the needs and activities of your newborn. A

tour of the hospital will help familiarize you with

the labor and delivery area and you can get your

questions answered about your stay.

Whether you are expecting your first baby or third, the Childbirth & Parent Education Classes will help you get ready for a memorable birth

experience.
