Maybe this year it will even be a deeper Thanksgiving celebration as my family not only remembers my uncle but they focus more upon their everlasting status and upon God. Happy Thanksgiving to you all and with much love, Pastor Darrel & Michal Pastors Notes: Thanksgiving is going to be a little different this year for my family. My mom’s brother passed away suddenly Saturday night and the funeral is on Wednesday. For years Thanksgiving had been traditionally held at his mother’s (my grandmother) home in the country outside of Enid, Oklahoma. 40-50 family members would arrive, the meal was a supper and afterwards we would sit around for a few hours visiting and re-connecting. My grandmother stopped hosting the dinner a few years ago, she is 95 and still on the farm, and last year just a part of our family gathered at my mom’s home. Things change. Time has a way of doing that. People come, people go and life moves on. Once again I was reminded that as long as we live on this earth we reside in the temporary home of our earthly bodies only for a little while. We have pitched our tents as it was only for a brief stay; we are sojourners just passing through. This world’s not our home but we are simply traveling, passing through on our way to a new Kingdom, an Everlasting City whose Builder and Maker is the Lord. Jesus said, "In my Father's house there are many mansions I go to prepare a place for you, I am coming again, and I will take you to myself that where I am, there you may also be." I was telling Michal yesterday that my view of death has changed over the last few years. Although I am sad at my uncle’s passing and know that for his wife, children and family the transition will be hard, the truth is that my uncle is seeing things, experiencing things that I long to see. To see my Savior face to face. To see and experience the warmth of the glory of God. To see angels, saints, family and how things really are in the spiritual world, oh what a blessing that will be.

BAPTISM!!! Saturday it occurred to me that we have had a lot of Baptisms lately! I realized that we have filled the baptistery every Sunday for 6 weeks solid! Praise God for the 10 people who have given their lives to Jesus in the last 6 weeks. Yesterday we were blessed to watch Allan Young give his life to Christ!! Allan is 17 years old. He can use his background to the Glory of God as he lives for Him! Congratulations Allan!

Special Thanksgiving Thanks!!! I am so grateful to all the people who attended and helped with our Legacy Chinese Thanksgiving Dinner Celebration! We had 78 people in attendance plus my family and also had the privilege of feeding some who were decorating the church for Christmas! Thanks for the great food, fun and fellowship! We had smoked turkey (Named Duck), smoked pulled pork (we called Peking Duck) and lots of Chinese Food! Wow the spread of food was amazing! THE MITTEN TREE FCC is once again collecting hats, scarves mittens, gloves and socks for ECKAN. The tree for the hats and mittens, etc. is located in the overflow room for you to place your items. We collected 236 mittens, hats, socks and throw blankets for those in need last year. We wish to thank you all for your heartfelt generosity & donations for this much needed project. Warm hearts helped to warm many hands, heads and feet last winter.

~~We are so grateful and

blessed by your gifts~~

THE MEMORY TREE: Again this year, the Memory Tree will be standing in the sanctuary as a part of First Christian Churchs Christmas. If you have a person in your family who has passed away in 2014 and you’d like an ornament placed on the tree in his/her memory, please let us know by placing the name on the flap in the Sunday Bulletin or contact Michal Herde. ( 316-841-3070). Please do so as soon as possible, but of course, any last minute names are welcome. A reminder that if you do request an ornament, please be sure to pick it up after Christmas. Thank you!
