Christmas

In Slovakia we celebrate Christmas in different ways . In our region we celebrate it this way:

Preparations for Christmas

We buy presents for our family and friendsWe bake cakes and cookies(I love gingerbread)We decorate our house with glowing Christmas

lights, candles and advent wreathEvery Sunday to Christmas we light one candle

on the advent wreathOne day before Christmas we decorate

Christmas tree(My favorite decorations are birds of various colors)

Christmas dinner

On 24th December we don´t eat anything until the evening

We start eating when it´s dark (Or when the fish is ready )

First my grandpa cuts an apple in two halves, if there is a star, our family will be healthy

My grandma puts money under the table cloth to be rich

Then we eat waffles with honey

Main course is fried fish with potato saladThen we continue with cakes and fruit and

nuts and fish and salad again and we wait for a bell

Presents

Then the bell rings and the little Jesus comes and brings lots of presents under the Christmas tree

Easter

• Easter is a festival celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion.

How do we celebrate it ?

Boys wake up early in the morning and they prepare their willow whips

Then they go from house to house and they whip the girls with willow whips and pour them with water

After that girls should be beautiful and healthyGirls give boys decorated eggs

How do we celebrate it ?

Girls don´t like easter very much but boys love it
