Licensing of our School Chaplain
Christ’s School is priviledged to be in the position of
receiving visits from two Bishops in the space of two
weeks, and the first of these visits took place on Tuesday
2nd March. Our Chaplain, Serena Willoughby, took part in
a Service of License held by The Right Reverend Richard
Cheetham, Bishop of Kingston, here in the school.
This service was to give the Chaplain the Bishop of
Southwark’s license to be Church of England’s
representative in this Church of England school, licensing
Serena as a Chaplain to be pastoral support and care for
staff and students. The Chaplain oversees and encourages all things Christian within the school and its
community and much more besides. The Bishop highlighted our values of love, justice and peace in his
sermon; Christian values which permeate all that we are as a school community with the name of Christ
at the forefront.
This special day was made even more so by the staff and students who took part in the service.
The concept to Catwalk competition
is reaching a very exciting stage. This
week the group, who are all in the
Able & Ambitious programme, visited
Central St. Martins, University of the
Arts London, to see the prototype of
their dress design.
Since being chosen as finalists in the
London-wide competition, the
students, Fahima Salha, Hannah Berg,
Naomi Ormonde, Chantal
Central St. Martins, the V&A and the
fashion industry. This will be part of the
catwalk show and exhibition at the
Olympic Park on Wednesday 25th March.
Omarsdottir, and sixth former
Megan McHugh, have been
working with MA Students to
produce a garment inspired by
the structure of the Orbit at the
Olympic Park.
Our students will be attending
the fitting of the final garment
on the 18th March and are now
planning their final presentation
for the panel of judges from

Our Bible verse for the week:
B ear with each other and
forgive one another if
any of you has a grievance
against someone. Forgive as the
Lord forgave you.
Colossians 3:13
L ord, may I become more aware of your presence
in my life. May I discover that you do walk with me
each day of my life, accompanying me in darkness
as well as in light, in sadness as well as joy. May
your spirit lead me to trust and come to know that
you keep your word and are always faithful and
loving. I place myself and my future into your
hands. Amen.
The whole school celebrated World Book Day on Thursday with a festival of all
things books! As well as the truly amazing, original and humorous costumes, we
had a Pop-up Bookshop run by Waterstones, a Book Quiz, teachers reading from
their favourite novels, and a published teen author speaking to & working with the
students. The author Faye Bird, who wrote her book, My Second Life, in the local
area, held creative writing workshops with students and signed copies of her book,
as well as speaking at the Key Stage 3 Assembly.
Here are some of the great costumes we were treated to on Thursday! See more on the website!

The second session of the Speak Out Challenge is taking place at school on Monday for a
selected group of year 10 students.
Year 10 student Valentin Obretenov won a Jack Petchey Award last term and was awarded
£200 to spend on equipment for the school. Amazingly, as he is such a wonderful, thoughtful
and polite student, he has used the money to pay for
a number of footballs that the students can use at
break and lunch times on the courts. He thought of this
because so many students wanted to play, but arrived
at school without a ball daily. Many of them were
unoccupied at break times and getting into mischief
so he ordered the equipment to keep them occupied
and active! What a Legend!
