In addition to the standard detection of C.albicans, the detectionof C.tropicalis and C.krusei, which tend to be more resistant toantifungal agents, is important to optimize antifungal treatmentespecially for immunocompromised patients.

Powerful and easy detection of mixed yeast cultures isparticularly useful to detect antifungal resistant strains evenpresent in the sample as a minor population.
