For the month of Jan., we will be collecting CANNED FRUIT, SOUP, SPAGHETTI (1LB), CANNED CHICKEN, KNORR SIDES, HOT CHOCOLATE PACKETS, & CANNED VEGETABLES. Cases of items are appreciated as well as monetary donations. Donations can be left in the shopping carts near the entry to the Gym. Questions: please see Diana Jones or phone her at 765- 474-3528. Indeed,
we are “feeding the least of these” and providing an expression of God’s love to hungry children in
our community. THANKS for your loyalty and support.
December is quickly passing by us and soon we will change the calendar to 2019.
What are you looking forward to? My family and I look forward to being with
you in worship. We look forward to getting to know you and work together with
you to make Lafayette and the world better for God.
We are going to need your help getting to know Christ Church and Lafayette. You
see, Elizabeth is from Ohio and, since my parents were IU grads, I was never
allowed in Tippecanoe County. It was a form of a familial blasphemy. They are
now preparing their hearts to be able to visit us after we move. They need your
prayers. What are the things you think we need to know? What do you love about your
church and community that you want to make sure we don’t miss? What are the
questions you have for us?
I look forward to learning from one another as we walk together.
Shalom,
Rev. Kurt

A big THANK YOU to Girl Scout troop
2824 and their leaders. Over the last year,
they have held several fund raisers for the
backpack program, bought food, made
posters for Vacation Bible School, taken
inventory and most recently raised the
money and bought 22 pairs of waterproof
mittens for the backpacks. Great job
girls!!!!

Thank You to Christ United Methodist Church
We would like to thank CUMC for your support and love for Jubilee
Christmas. We were able to provide an outfit and 3 toys for 57 children in our
community. Each of the 18 families received a ham, food box, cleaning
supplies, Christmas cookies, homemade quilt, Christian DVD, bible and one
outfit from the Kids Kloset. These families were blessed by your love and
generosity.
A HUGE thank you for any part that you played in Jubilee Christmas this
year. We know that the love and light of Jesus was spread throughout the
Lafayette community through this congregation’s continued commitment to
serve others in our community.
Philippians 1:3-6
I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I
always pray with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first
day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you
will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ.

giving envelopes. Please remember to add your

accurate giving statement for your
offering. Thank you for your faithful giving to
the ministries of
Christ United Methodist Church!
HELP for the Food Pantry Now that Christmas is over, it’s hard to remember that
there are still needs in the community. However, there
are many families and individuals who continue to need
assistance and turn to the Food Pantry for that help.
January is one of the months when Christ Church is
asked to collect groceries for the Food Pantry. You can
help by bringing your contributions and placing them in
the grocery cart near the sign in the south entry to the
multi-purpose room. All non-perishable goods (fruits,
vegetables, beans, soup, peanut butter) as well as boxed
items (macaroni and cheese, crackers, rice, spaghetti)
are welcome. Money is also welcome since the Pantry
must buy items that are needed but not donated.
Thanks in advance for your generosity.

Let’s Pray
Come to Me with a teachable spirit, eager to be changed.
A close walk with Me is a life of continual newness. Do
not cling to old ways as you step into a new year. Instead,
seek My Face with an open mind, knowing that your
journey with Me involves being transformed by the
renewing of your mind. As you focus your thoughts on
Me, be aware that I am fully attentive to you. I see you
with a steady eye, because My attention span is infinite. I
know and understand you completely; My thoughts
embrace you in everlasting Love. I also know the plans I
have for you: plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future. Give yourself fully to
this adventure of increasing attentiveness to my Presence.
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but
be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you
will be able to test and approve what God’s will is - his
good, pleasing and perfect will. - Romans 12:2
