This Weekend’s Scripture First Reading: Zechariah 12:10-11, 13:1 Zechariah describes the mourning that will occur over Jesus' crucifixion. The people of Jerusalem will mourn him as they would mourn an only son or a fallen king. Second Reading: Galatians 3:26-29 Paul reinforces that all those who accept Christ are equal in God's eyes. Man or woman, Jew or Greek, is unimportant in God's eyes if you have true faith in Je-sus. Gospel: Luke 9:18-24 Jesus asks the disciples who they think he is. They reply that he is the Messiah. Jesus forbids them to tell this to others, and explains that first he must suffer, be put to death, and rise up on the third day. He explains to them that they also must be willing to suffer for his sake if they wish to be saved. ©2000 Bon Venture Services, Inc.

A Stewardship Thought …
“If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily
and follow me.” LUKE 9:23
We are not very good at “denying ourselves” in our society. Our current economic situation is evidence of what happens when people think they can have everything they want. Jesus calls us to set our own personal “wants” aside so that we have the re-sources to follow Him instead.

News from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Go to the poor, you will see God. - St. V. de Paul
Our next general meeting will be this Mon. June 20th at 7:30 in MDH. Note this is the 3rd Monday in June, not our usual 4th Monday meeting date. It’s our last Gen-eral Meeting until September and our summer party. All members are encouraged to attend. Please consid-er binging snacks or drinks. Newcomers are always welcome! If you’ve ever considered becoming actively involved with helping those in need within our commu-nity, this is the perfect time to start and to meet every-one.
We want to extend our thanks to Conagra/ International American Supermarkets for their very large & generous donation of cooking oil to our food pantry. Thanks! Could you please help us by donating non-perishable food items and toiletries to our pantry? All donations are gratefully accepted but presently we especially need: pasta sauce, canned/ packaged fruit, instant mac & cheese, canned tuna & chicken, peanut butter, jelly, cereals, soups-especially chicken noodle, crackers.
Our Lord said; “As you have done for the least of my brethren, you have done unto me.” This is the basis for all we do at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. We invite you to share in our mission. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance please contact us through the parish office. In the past we’ve helped people with rent, utility, groceries, medicines, special dietary requirements and many other needs. No work of charity is foreign to our society. In the name of Christ we are here to help and to serve. Please put us to work.

practices the faith and would like to share it within the context of the RCIA program, please contact Deacon Ed after Mass or email at [email protected]
