A Note from ……...Sister Elisabeth Anne, lsp

Queen of Peace Residence 110-30 221 Street Queens Village, NY 11429

Dear Msgr. Pereda, First of all, I send you our sincere condolences for the passing of your dear mother Marie. She was so proud of you and we know how much you loved your mother. God took her home where she will now be enjoying the Beatific vision and you can be sure she will be watching over you from heaven. We are planning to come to the wake and the funeral at St. Paul’s. Sorry it took me so long but I am happy to tell you that we received a total of $12,079 from our visit at your parish on the weekend of November 29, 2015. Your parishioners were most generous to us and we know that it was because of your example as a fervent priest plus your words after each Mass encouraging them to help us Little Sisters. This is much appreciated by all of us here at Queen of Peace Residence and I am so glad that we were able to care for your mother in her last years. Thank you for inviting us to come to St. Paul’s for this collection and we hope you can help us again if possible in the future. Please be assured of the gratitude and appreciation of our family of Elderly and Little Sisters here at Queen of Peace Residence. Sincerely grateful, Sr. Elisabeth Anne, lsp

CHURCH REGULATIONS REGARDING FAST AND ABSTINENCE Abstinence from meat (beast or fowl) is to be observed by all Catholics fourteen years old and older on Ash

Wednesday and on all Fridays of Lent. This obligation prohibits the eating of meat, but not eggs, milk products or condiments of any kind, even though made from animal fat. Fasting means limiting oneself to one full meal on a given fast day. Catholics who are eighteen years of age but not yet fifty-nine are obligated to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. On fast days, two additional smaller meals are permitted if necessary to maintain strength. However, the two smaller meals together may not equal one full meal. Moreover, eating solid foods between meals on fast days is not permitted.

Confession— every Saturday in the Church from 4:00-4:45PM. Stations of the Cross every Fr iday in Lent at 7:30PM in the Church.

Msgr. Pereda would like to extend a sincere thank

you to all who expressed condolences and

sympathy at the time of his mother’s death.

Msgr. Pereda’s column (From the Pastor) will

appear next week as usual.

Our food pantry is in need of the

following items:

Microwaveable meals are best. Motel

residents are not able to cook foods like pasta

or stuffing.

Personal items such as shampoo, toothpaste,

deodorant and regular size soap are greatly

needed.

Shelf stable milk, such as Parmalat.

Coffee. Canned or jarred only.

Paper goods such as microwaveable bowls and

cups are needed also.

Cereal (Cheerios, Special K, Cornflakes…no

sugary cereal please.

We are dedicated to maintaining respect for and the

dignity of the people who visit our pantry. It is

oftentimes embarrassing and humiliating to ask for

help. With that in mind we ask you to please

consider the following when donating:

“Specialty items” such as those found in gift

baskets or complimentary hotel items are

generally not taken.

Kindly check expiration dates on all cans and

boxes.

Please check the items to make sure they are

unopened and have not been used.

We cannot give out candy or cereal containing

sugar. Some of our clients have health issues

and too much sugar is not good for school age

children.

Thank you all for continuing to support our efforts.

Your donations are life sustaining!
