If you would like to be an altar server, reader, Minister of Holy Communion,

or sing in the choir, please leave your name and telephone number at the rectory office. We need ushers. If you would like to be an usher, leave your name and telephone number in the office. Ushers welcome the people to the church and take up the collection. Any teen in our religious education program and any adult parishioner is eligible to be an usher. With the exception of Saturday, March 21, there will be prac-

tice for the Easter Vigil Choir on every Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in

the church.

Every Wednesday at 8:30 A.M we have Mass in English. Our

school will be invited to attend when their schedule allows.

After Mass we will have adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in

silence until 11:50 A.M. All are invited to make a half hour

commitment to pray for vocations, peace in the world, all who

are suffering, greater care of the planet, etc., and our own per-

sonal intentions.

Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence. Fasting means

limiting oneself to one full meal and two smaller ones. Only

those 18 to 59 and in good health are obliged to fast. All the

Fridays if Lent are days of abstinence. Abstinence is abstaining

from meat and poultry. All 14 and up are obliged to abstain

from meat and poultry on these Fridays of Lent.

We will have the Stations of the Cross in English at 5:00 P.M. every Wednesday in Lent. We will have the Stations of the Cross in Spanish every Friday at 11:30 A.M. On Monday, March 23, the Finance Committee will meet at 6:30 P.M. in the rectory. The finance committee is the Trus-tees, those who count the collection, and any interested pa-rishioner. On Thursday, March 26, the Parish Council will meet at 7:30 P.M. in the rectory. . On Friday, March 27, 10:45 A.M. there will be a Lenten reflec-tion in Spanish in the sacristy. All are invited.

A portion of our collection today, Sunday, March 15, will go towards the Catholic Relief Services. There are bilingual booklets with reflections for each day of Lent at the office. We ask a donation of $1.00. The Evangelization group, those involved in evangelization pro-grams in our community, meet on the first and third Saturday of each month at 4:00 P.M. in the rectory. The Cardinal’s Appeal has begun. Every parish is asked to do their part in assisting the Archdiocese with their programs: ed-ucation, charitable works, the seminary, and the care of sick priests. Our goal this year is $30,500.00. Some of you have already received letters from the Cardinal. During the weekend of March 28 and 29 the second collection will be for the cam-paign. If all of us do our part, we can reach our goal.

Mark your calendar: On Sunday, May 17, the Charismatic Pray-er Group is sponsoring a concert in Neumann Hall from 1:30 to 6:30 P.M. The musicians are Alida and Gonzalo, the Friends of Jesus, and St. Nicholas Choir. They will conclude with prayers for healing. There are refreshments. Tickets are $5.00. The archdiocese is offering a preparation course for practicing adult Catholics, who need the Sacrament of Confirmation. If interested contact one of the priests here—718-292-6970.

The best gift we can give to anyone is the gift of the Mass. We have opportunities to offer Mass for a living or deceased loved one. Ask at the office.

Una parte de nuestra colección de hoy, domingo, 15 de mar-zo se destinara a la Ayuda Católica. Hay libritos con una reflexión por cada día durante Cuaresma disponibles en la oficina. Les pedimos una donación de $1.00. La Campaña del Cardenal comenzó. Cada parroquia es pedi-do que haga su parte en ayudar el arquidiócesis con sus pro-gramas: educación, caridad, el seminario y el cuidado de los sacerdotes enfermos. Nuestra meta es $30,500.00. Si quiere ser un monaguillo, ujier, lector, ministro de la Santa Comunión, o miembro del coro, deje su nombre y numero de teléfono en la oficina. Necesitamos ujieres. Si le gustaría ser un ujieres, deje tu nom-bre y numero de teléfono en la oficina. Los ujieres dan la bien-venida a la gente y están responsables de la colecta. Cualquier joven en nuestro programa de educación religiosa o cualquier feligrés adulto es elegible para ser un ujier. Cada miércoles tenemos una Misa en ingles a las 8:30am. La escuela va ser invitado, si su horario le permite. Después de la Misa tendremos la Adoración de la Eucaristía en silencio hasta las 11:50am. Todos están invitados a hace un compromiso a quedarse con Jesús por un medio hora para orar por vocacio-nes, la paz del mundo, todos los que están sufriendo, el cuida-do de la planeta, etc. y nuestras propias intenciones. El Viernes Santo es un día de ayuno y abstinencia. Ayunar es limitarnos a una comida completa y dos comidas sencillas. Todos los adultos en buena salud de 18 a 59 anos de edad son obligado a ayunar. Los viernes de Cuaresma son días de absti-nencia. Abstinencia es no comer carne y pollo. Todos de 14 anos y adelante son obligados a abstenerse. Cada miércoles durante Cuaresma tendremos el Vía Crucis en ingles a las 5:00pm en la iglesia. Cada viernes tendremos el Vía Crucis en español a las 11:30am. El grupo de Evangelización, los que están envueltos en proyec-tos de evangelización en la comunidad, se reúne el primer y tercer sábado de cada mes a las 4:00pm en la rectoría. El lunes, 23 de marzo, habrá una reunión del Comité de Finan-zas a las 6:30pm en la rectoría. El comité es los fideicomisa-rios, los que cuentan la colecta y cualquier feligrés interesado. El jueves, 26 de marzo, habrá una reunión del Consejo Parro-quial a las 7:00pm en la rectoría. El viernes, 27 de marzo, habrá una reflexión cuaresmal en es-pañol a las 10:45am en la sacristía en la iglesia. Todos están invitados.
