Bridge To Career in Human Services Interests with PATHS C. Grenwelge The Center on Disability and Development at TAMU has developed an inclusive postsecondary

education program currently in its third year. The purpose of this program is to provide people with disabilities an inclusive postsecondary certificate program that considers individual needs and is based on their career choice. Participants will gain understanding of the program model and admission process. Additionally, program updates will be provided regarding completion and em-ployment rates. Session is repeated Wed at4:10 & Tht1rs. at 9:40.

Person Centered as a Pathwai to Self Determined Students RoniJ o Frazier Using Person Centered Planning students learn necessary self-determination skills to take control, not only with their education, but with their post-secondary life, through goal oriented planning. With hands-on activities, examples and reproducible materials explore the basic steps for effectively turning this process into a guiding principal for your lessons. Session repeated on Wednesday at 10:15.

Transition Ideas for Special Cases Carol Huntley Participants will learn "hands-on" variations of the visual transition plan for students in the juvenile justice system, those w:ith emotional and mental problems, those who could benefit from once-a-month follow up transition planning, and, an "overlap" transition plan for students in self-contained classes, to aide them in a seamless transition from school to life after school. Community rehabilitation agencies from North Texas were invited to be a pilot project, Communi-ty Integrated EMPLOYMENT (CIE], to implement interactive curriculum strategies for pre voca-tional skills training (soft skills) designed to individualize and promote experiential learning for groups of 4-8. CIE was introduced to TA V AC in 2012 DARS referred individuals who would hen-efit from Vocational Adjustment Training [VAT]. Session repeats todqy at 3:20.

Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities 101 TimJones A smooth transition for students w:ith IDD from school to adult services is independent upon edu-cators and families understanding the state's system for long term care, and being informed of the steps to access this system through their Local Authority. Transition Through Technolo� Rick DeRennaux Come see the Oklahoma based 'Tech-Now' which provides an opponun.ity to acquire real-world technical skills through a rigorous, interactive, multi-media curriculum that helps students meet high school graduation requirements and prepare them for post-secondary education and careers. Student AssessmentLPlacement Matching Mamta Verma This session will highlight the outcomes of Transition Assessments, as well as offer considerations for successful implementation on the basis for defining goals and services to be included in the Individualized Education Program (IBP). Students with disabilities often require additional prepara-tion when moving tl1rough the stages of career development in a unique order for the individual's transition. Presenter Biography My career began at the State of New Jersey, VR & Dept. of Health. Positions included research assistant, social studies teacher and vocational coordinator for summer employment in a residential high school with court ordered students (2 yrs). State of Wisconsin: Guidance Counselor K-12 schools, coordinated prevention services, group and classroom sessions on personal/social and career development (14 yrs). Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (6 yrs) - Honors from WI included: special commendations from two WI governors; recipient of exemplary ratings for efforts in meeting state/national competencies for career planning, increased community involvement & partnerships in developing transition services. Texas (Division for Blind Services (1.5 yrs) & Division for Rehab Services (1 yr) ). Consult/trainer, Transition Coordinator and Business Consultant for UNTWISE at University of North Texas (2.6 yrs).

Co Presenter Biography Joseph D. Costa, Co-author of Community Integrated EMPLOYMENT has 35 years professional work experience in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling and administration. He received his Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He retired in 2011 after serving the last four years as the Director of Management Services for the State of WI. Joseph also was the senior manager responsible for state wide VR services for the blind from 2003 to 2008. His contributions included national recognition by Information Week for leadership in variety of innovative programs including ADA accessible video conferencing. In the last decade of his career, he supported through teamwork in the area of transition and service delivery for the deaf and hard of hearing.
