• PATRICK SWINEY – In Memory – Patrick Swiney passed away on July 28, 2009 in the infirmary at Donaldson Prison in Bessemer, Alabama, USA. His case of actual innocence prompted the creation and development of the P.A.T.R.I.C.K. Crusade, an international organization which is dedicated to human rights for everyone.

The man who exposed corruption and paid the ultimate price for speaking out.

The police officer who exposed a drug ring in Gulf Shores, Alabama, who was then framed for murder and wrongly sent to prison who then exposed unconstitutional prison conditions while his team fought for a new trial, passed away at age 64 on July 28, 2009.

In truth, Patrick was killed by his care-takers.

Patrick Swiney would have been 65 on October 24, 2009. He was actually innocent of committing any crime and his team of scientists proved that in 2003 but the Alabama courts would not consider the new evidence, instead opting to cover up the truth.

For 20 years while he waited for exoneration, Patrick was our “in-house” Internet, an icon for justice, truth, integrity, and caring for others. In spite of the abuses he was given for speaking out while in the Alabama prison system Patrick continued to help others with their own lives. He had an uncanny knack, an intuition, for knowing what to say that would help a person the most in their time of need.

He shall be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor even in the darkest of times. He shall be remembered for the work he performed as a police officer for the good of the public. He shall be remembered most for his integrity.

Patrick can now walk his promise land but not in physical form.

We thank everyone who fought for his exoneration.

We thank everyone who fought for his life.

We pray for those who framed him.

We pray for those who illegally kept him in prison.

We pray for those who killed him.

We pray for those who ignored his pleas for freedom.
