MAKE EVERY VOICE COUNT Hiring a Census Program Manager Home to many historically under- counted populations, Renton had one of the lowest 2010 Census counts in King County. This reduced the amount of federal funding the city received for projects affecting residents’ every day lives. The city is hiring a Census Program Manager to guide Renton to a complete count for the upcoming 2020 US Census. Application closes Oct. 15. DEADLINE IS OCT. 25 2020 Tourism Promo Grants Renton is accepting applications for 2020 tourism promotion grants. These grants are for bureaus, non-profits, lodging associations and municipalities who support tourism and marketing in Renton. Applications from qualifying entities are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, October 25. THURSDAY, OCT. 3, 6–8 P.M., RENTON COMMUNITY CENTER Parks & Recreation Plan Open House Your input at the Parks, Recreation and Natural Areas Plan Open House will help set priorities for the future. Bring your thoughts and questions to the Renton Community Center (1715 Maple Valley Hwy.) this Thursday, Oct. 3, 6–8 p.m. A brief presentation will begin at 6 p.m., followed by interactive live polling. From 7–8 p.m., you can visit stations to weigh in on the most important project criteria and park concept plans at your own pace. OPEN COMMENT PERIOD CLOSES OCT. 9 EPA to clean up Quendall Terminals The Environmental Protection Agency has proposed plans to clean up the Quendall Terminals site. Residents are encouraged to share their perspectives via email or regular mail through Oct. 9. Final decisions will be made after public comments are considered. OCT. 8, 6–8 P.M.
