May 11, 2015 Campus safety is a high priority at Claremont High School. We take very seriously any allegation of inappropriate conduct by adults involving our students. That is why we are saddened to report that on Friday May 8, the Claremont Police Department removed an instructional aide from Claremont High School and placed her under arrest for alleged sexual misconduct with a male teenage student from our school. The district administration cooperated closely with Claremont PD during its four-week investigation culminating in the arrest. As far as we know, the alleged incidents occurred off campus outside of the regular school day. The school district immediately placed the employee on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of the case and she will not be returning to the school. Out of respect for the ongoing investigation and in compliance with state due process and privacy laws, the district cannot discuss at this time any further confidential details of personnel or student records. Anyone with information relating to this unfortunate incident is being asked to contact the Claremont Police Department. Students and staff who may need support are encouraged to reach out to the CHS counselors and administrators. The disappointing and inappropriate actions of this individual should not detract from Claremont High School’s well-deserved reputation as a safe, caring, and highly successful school. If you have questions or concerns please feel free to contact my office. Sincerely, Brett O’Connor
