High school graduates remember their high school years
as the best years of their lives. This is especially true
with Pike High School alumni. High school students
develop close and lasting relationships through Pike’s
outstanding academic, social, and athletic programs.
The teachers and staff at Pike High School have shaped
our lives with their guidance and academic contributions.
Today the alumni enjoy and continue to benefit from the
Pike community of student and alumni family. Pike High
School students can expect to benefit from the continuity
of academic excellence and achievement as they move
into adulthood. Pike High School’s outstanding scholas-
tic record is evidenced by a graduation rate of 90%.
The Pike High School Alumni Association, a 501 (c)(3)
tax exempt organization, supports class and alumni activ-
ities. But its most notable contribution is the Pike Alumni
Association Scholarship Fund. The Association seeks to
provide scholarship funds where there is a need.
You can show your gratitude to the institution and carry
the tradition of excellence and family forward by remem-
bering the Pike High School Alumni Association in your
Will. Call or email Charlie Ward for more information on
such donations at (317) 639-9501 or

The Alumni Association has been working very hard to
combine fun, significant events, and opportunities to
help current Pike students: a way to honor both Pike’s
past and its present and future.
We are all too aware that $1000 doesn’t go very far to-
ward college tuition any more; however, it is a start. We
would like to grow the size of our scholarships. The
2014 year’s scholarships were increased from our tradi-
tional $1000 scholarships to 2 scholarships of $3000
each.
We have begun a new feature. We are including a
memorial column, showing who has donated money to
the scholarship fund in memory of a Pike person. If
contributions in the name of any single person reach
$1000, a Pike Alumni Association scholarship will be
awarded in that person’s name. If donations do not
reach the $1000 level, they will be added to the regular
Pike scholarships given annually. Thus, the actual
number and amount of the scholarships may vary from
year to year, with 1 scholarship with a $1000 base
being the minimum.

It was great seeing all the golfers. 60 socialites rounded
out the dinner activities. It was great to hear the sponta-
neous greetings as old classmates got together. There
were even former teachers present to swap tales: Linda
Winchell, Joel Leaman, Ed Siegel, Joe Drescher, and
MA Booth.
Of course, the raffle which helps fund the annual schol-
arships (the real reason for the event in the first place)
was headed by Fightin’ Joe Drescher. He’s in large part
behind the success of this aspect of the event. How can
anyone deny his great salesmanship abilities. The prizes
included a signed Helio Castroneves jersey, and hats
signed by Will Power and Juan Pablo Montoya; they
were all provided by Tim Cindric and Penske Racing.
Greg Calvert donated a Bowman Virginia Straight Bour-
bon signed by the master distiller. Other items included
10 rounds of golf provided by Eagle Creek Golf Course;
a signed T.Y. Hilton football; gift certificates from Tomlin-
son Tap and 86th St. Pub; a haircut and shampoo from
Jack’s Barber Shop; Scotty’s Brewhouse; Indy Screen
Print; a gift bag from Sun King; Dick’s Sporting Goods,
and Mike’s Carwash Works Coupons.
Ed Siegel gave the evening’s speech. It was a memora-
ble mix of humor, “be true to your school”, and real
emotion; truly one of the most moving speeches in
recent years. Thank you, Ed. This was a classic
example that reminded us all that we’re proud to say
we were part of the “Pike family.”
We also want to thank John Booth for handling the
computer and behind-the-scenes details; the beverage
cart drivers; Mark Montieth; and all others who made
this a fabulous, memorable day to remember—snakes,
rain, and all. Great times, great memories, great cause,
GREAT PARTY!

On August 2, 2014, approximately 35 Pike gradates/family
members from 1995-2005 attended the Indianapolis
Indians vs. the Toledo Mud Hens game at Victory Field.
The event, under the auspices of the Alumni Association
and organized by Nick Gahl and Jeremiah Johnson, was
a huge success as the picture above attests. Teacher
Jodi MacDonald was in attendance as well.
Look for the Alumni Association to host more, similar
events in the future.
The Golf Outing the following weekend, August 9th, and
several class reunions rounded out the August activities.
These were to be followed by Alumni recognition at the
Homecoming football game and additional reunions being
held in September.
We encourage everyone to post their post-event pictures
on the Pike Facebook site for all to enjoy. Even those who
were unable to attend the events enjoy seeing old, familiar
faces and seeing what Pike grads are up to.
