Security & Shelter

The “Reading Hut” serves as a retreat area for children. The space also have soft surfaces like pillows, stuffed animals and bean bag chairs for the kids.

Social Contact

The desks are arranged in clusters which are great for small group discussions and work.

Symbolic Identification

There is a mixture of store bought and hand made materials used on the bullentin boards. The information being displayed is information useful to the students (i.e. classroom rules).

Task Instrumentality

Labeled book bins in a classroom library help students identify how books are grouped so they are able to quickly find or put away a book that interests them.

Pleasure

The curtains on the window add a “homey” feel, making the classroom more comfortable for students. There are also a variety of hard and soft surfaces in this image.

Growth

The math manipulative center gives students a place to play while working on various math skills.
