Topic / Skill : Speaking and writing activities

Date / Time : 11.04.2014 (07.30 – 09.15)

1. Lesson Delivery: Set induction

The teacher checked the attendance first.

He brought a thing (handphone) in the class and showed it to the

students.

He told how to operate it and what the function is. Then, he asked

to the students what is the students’ favorite thing, and asked why

and gave the definitions.

Main activities and giving tasks

The teacher gave worksheet about thing, and it should work on

home (previous meeting)

The present meeting, the students collected the worksheet and

brought the favorite thing to the class.

The students came forward one by one to be tested (speaking

assessment). The students spoke orally to the teacher about their

thing and how to operate or use it.

During the assessment, the other student discussed or shared

about the thing to another student.

Closing

The teacher re-explained to the students about what have they learned.

And told about the activities on the next meeting.

2. Lesson Plan (RPP): Objectives & indicators

Pupils will be able to describe the interactional organization of “sharing

time” in one particular classroom in terms of structure, repair and taking

turn.

Learning materials, tasks, and activities

Material: Show n tell.

Task: Write the story of this object.

Activities: pupil share the information of the object, show how to

operate, and share to other pupil.

Assessment and evaluation

Assessment: Speaking and writing.

Evaluation: He gave a positive feedback to every response.

3. Basic Teaching Skills: Explaining skill

Before the class begins, he explained and described about his thing

(handphone). And told about the function and the ways to operate it.

Questioning skill

He always raises his hand in requesting question, it means that he hope

the student who want to ask or answer question with raising hand.

Variation

The learning method which given to the students was different in each

meeting, such as learning by using thing (model). So, this is the interesting

learning. The task which given from the teacher was variation, such as the

statements, bring a thing, and choice of word was different each other.

Reinforcement

In every part after the teacher explained about the topic which

present, she ask some question and reinforce the students with an

extra score. “Who can answer it?” “Who know it?”. In question

session, after the students answered the teacher’s question, the

teacher would give a verbal reinforcement in good response to

appreciate the students, the response was such as “yeah”, “okey”,

“good”, “nice”, etc.

4. Classroom Management:

Physical Environment:

The seating pattern in the classroom were formed as a

traditional one, which the students directly facing the teacher’s

table.

There were some medias for learning activities provided by

the school in classroom, they were projector, one whiteboard,

and teacher’s laptop.

The room was big and comfy enough for 25 even 30 students

who learned there.

Psychological Environment:

There were colorful behaviors shown by the students, it was

good and enjoyable to learn at that time.

How the teacher develop classroom rules and routines

He let the students speak English freely, ungrammatically is fine, the

meaning and understanding is the point. Ending the class with a thank to

the teacher.

How the teacher reacts to students’ response

He uses a whistle and hand movement to brake students’ violence. He

always uses English in every response.

Before enter the class, the students should make row and pray together

(ibadah renungan pagi)

At the break time, there is a pray

At the end of the school, the students pray together and make row to get

outside of the class

The students clean (Kerja bakti) the school’s field once in 4 months.

2. English Subject CurriculumThe English lesson which I observed, it is not regular English, but “Fun English”.

The curriculum based on the school policy.

the beginning of the semester

The total of teachers and admin staffs are 35. There are some foreign teachers.

And all staffs are Indonesian.
