TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Always Together at Mass
Please follow along together as a family or follow along with the priest online.
OPENING SONG: THERE’S A WIDENESS IN GOD’S MERCY
INTRODUCTORY RITES
ALL: I confess to almighty God and to you my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my
words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous
fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me
to the Lord our God.
PRIEST: May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.
PRIEST: Lord, have mercy. ALL: Lord, have mercy.
PRIEST: Christ, have mercy. ALL: Christ, have mercy.
PRIEST: Lord, have mercy. ALL: Lord, have mercy.
GLORIA
ALL: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you,
we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus
Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on
us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on
us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit
in the glory of God the Father. Amen.
COLLECT
PRIEST: Grant, O Lord, that we may always revere and love your holy name, for you never deprive of your guidance those
you set rm on the foundation of your love. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in
the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
ALL: Amen.
FIRST READING: JER 20: 10-13
Jeremiah said: “I hear the whisperings of many: ‘Terror on every side! Denounce! let us denounce him!’ All those who were
my friends are on the watch for any misstep of mine. ‘Perhaps he will be trapped; then we can prevail, and take our
vengeance on him.’ But the LORD is with me, like a mighty champion: my persecutors will stumble, they will not triumph.
In their failure they will be put to utter shame, to lasting, unforgettable confusion. O LORD of hosts, you who test the just,
who probe mind and heart, let me witness the vengeance you take on them, for to you I have entrusted my cause. Sing to the
LORD, praise the LORD, for he has rescued the life of the poor from the power of the wicked!” The word of the Lord.
ALL: Thanks be to God.
TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
RESPONSORIAL PSALM: PS 69:8-10, 14, 17, 33-35
R. Lord, in your great love, answer me.
For your sake I bear insult,
and shame covers my face.
I have become an outcast to my brothers,
a stranger to my children,
Because zeal for your house consumes me,
and the insults of those who blaspheme you fall upon me.
R. Lord, in your great love, answer me.
I pray to you, O LORD,
for the time of your favor, O God!
In your great kindness answer me
with your constant help.
Answer me, O LORD, for bounteous is your kindness;
in your great mercy turn toward me.
R. Lord, in your great love, answer me.
“See, you lowly ones, and be glad;
you who seek God, may your hearts revive!
For the LORD hears the poor,
and his own who are in bonds he spurns not.
Let the heavens and the earth praise him,
the seas and whatever moves in them!’‘
R. Lord, in your great love, answer me.
SECOND READING: ROM 5:12-15
Brothers and sisters: Through one man sin entered the world, and through sin, death, and thus death came to all men,
inasmuch as all sinned—for up to the time of the law, sin was in the world, though sin is not accounted when there is no law.
But death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin after the pattern of the trespass of Adam, who is the
type of the one who was to come.
But the gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, how much more did the grace
of God and the gracious gift of the one man Jesus Christ overow for the many. The word of the Lord.
ALL: Thanks be to God.
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION: JN 15:26B, 27A
R. Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia.
The Spirit of truth will testify to me, says the Lord; and you also will testify.
R. Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia.
GOSPEL: MT 10:26-33
Jesus said to the Twelve: “Fear no one. Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known.
What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light; what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. And do not be
afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in
Gehenna. Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s
knowledge. Even all the hairs of your head are counted. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father. But whoever denies me before
others, I will deny before my heavenly Father.” The Gospel of the Lord.
ALL: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
HOMILY
PROFESSION OF FAITH
I believe in one God, the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father
before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
(At the words that follow,
up to and including “and became man,” all bow)
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucied under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and gloried,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You

A FEW WORDS FROM FR. ROBERT
Fr. Noel shared this Father’s Day Prayer...it’s beautiful!
A Father’s Day Prayer
Dear Father in heaven, as a Father help me: to follow your example; to be patient;
to be caring; to be understanding; to be forgiving; to know when to be rm and when to be compassionate;
to be a teacher; to be loving; to be a good listener,
and to always be there for my children as you are always there for me. Amen.

Big News
One of the last things that Bishop Hartmayer did before he left Savannah was give us permission to upgrade our athletic elds. You will recall
that the Parish Council, the Parish Finance Council and the School Board wholeheartedly endorsed this project.
Shortly after construction began, it became clear that we had to move one light pole in order to make our new baseball eld comply with our
league’s standards. Sadly, when we tried to move the pole we discovered that it was considerably weakened below ground level. After a lot of
consulting, no one would tell us that our present lights, poles and wiring, which date back to the early-1960s, are safe. Both the integrity of the
poles and the overhead wires are in question. The Diocese was informed of our problem and stated that since the project had already been
approved at all levels, all I needed to do was submit a change order to replace the old lighting. No further permissions were needed. After a lot
of thought and a fair amount of hesitancy I came to understand that it was either no lights or new lights. I informed Georgia Power never to
reconnect our old eld lights again, and it is my hope that they will be removed as soon as possible. The additional cost for new eld lighting is
just under $400,000. We will pay for the new lights with a down payment of $200,000 which was pledged at the Deimel Ball as part of the Viking
600 campaign. The remaining $200,000 will be nanced through the school’s Georgia Power bill to the tune of an additional $2,000 a month.
While the term of the loan is 10 years, it is our hope that once we get closer to completion of our new athletic elds that Pacelli alumni and
members of the local community will help us pay off the lights as soon as possible and help us begin to raise funds for the new stands. (cont’d)
I see no alternative to this next step. Because of the heat in Georgia, most of our football and soccer games
and some of our baseball games are played in the evening. Our beautiful new eld without adequate lighting
would not be able to serve the purpose we desire and desperately need. So we will move forward and also
replace the lighting this summer. The lead time for this project is between 8 and 10 weeks.
Once complete, we’ll have a special “Let There Be Light” celebration on Deimel Field. Stay tuned for details!
Concerned, and We’ll Miss You
One of the most beautiful things about St. Anne Church is the number of active military families who participate every Sunday. Many have large
families and choose to send their children to our beautiful school. Many military families are eager to put down roots in our parish and get
involved. Some leave Benning and then cycle back a couple of years later and pick up where they started. One of the hardest things though is as
people transfer in and out of Fort Benning there are a lot of goodbyes. I know that things are in 1ux right now because of the pandemic, and
I fear that we won’t have a chance to say goodbye and pray over or with our friends and military families who are leaving. If you are being
transferred or “PCS’d” please drop us a line and let us know. Rest assured you will be in our thoughts and our prayers as you pack up and move
to your next assignment. Please help us and spread the word that St. Anne Church will always be a military friendly parish.
Pastor’s Inbox
Fr. Robert I like the Blessed Mother next to the altar, please bring her back.
Fr. Robert I don’t like the Blessed Mother next to the altar because I can’t light candles there. Please put the candles in front of the altar in
church and bring the Blessed Mother back next to the altar in Church so I can light candles and see her during Mass.
Fr. Robert put the Blessed Mother back in Mercy Chapel. I nd it easier to pray there because the Blessed Sacrament is present. Don’t forget
Mary and Jesus like to be together.
Response: Blessed Mother Help Me!
The Blessed Mother was in church to remind us of her loving concern for us during the pandemic. Now she is back in Mercy Chapel, a perfect
place for private prayer and devotion and lighting candles. Don’t worry, St. Joseph is not far behind. He’s coming home, too.
Fr. Robert I hate those masks. I hate them and I refuse to wear one when I come to church.
Response: I understand that because of medical conditions some people cannot wear a mask. While there are differences of opinion, the
prevailing consensus and the current ocial recommendation of the CDC is to wear masks in public. They are purported to help stop the
spread of the virus. Please wear a mask when you come to church for your own protection and the protection and peace of mind of others.
It’s amazing what we can do for love. I am so grateful that there were only four people at all the Masses last weekend who chose not to wear
masks.
Fr. Robert Why aren’t we praying for our rst responders and military anymore? Did you stop because it is no longer politically correct? Shame
on you if you did.
Response: Our prayers come from our heart and do not depend on what is politically correct. When the oce was closed, we didn't have
anyone to write the prayers of the faithful. Fr. Manny had a book of intentions which we started to use and like. We did not intentionally leave
out the military and rst responders. Those intentions simply were not in our new book. We will add them in again, and we will also pray for all
victims of violence and prejudice throughout the whole world.
Dear Fr. Robert and Fr. Manny and Fr. Paul and St. Anne Church I joined your parish last summer after my husband and I relocated to
Ft. Benning. I am so thankful I got to share a few months of Masses with St. Anne’s before we PCS’d to Kansas. Right after we made it to
Kansas my husband deployed and the pandemic happened. I didn’t have the chance to establish myself at another parish before everything
changed. So early in March I searched and found St. Anne on Facebook and saw just what hard work you were doing to make sure the
parishioners were taken care of during this unprecedented time. Each Sunday and during the week I tuned in for
Mass and the Rosary. It provided me with so much comfort during a very weary and uncomfortable time. Thank you
for what you did and do for me. I miss St. Anne’s immensely, but joining you virtually has helped a ton. Best wishes
and stay well.
Response: The privilege is ours, let’s stay close in prayer.
Beautiful Chalk Art
Once again, the Eli family helped us commemorate an important feast in the Church by leaving us this beautiful
drawing for the Feast of Corpus Christi. It lifts my heart every time I go into Church.
