TE Connectivity (TE) introduces the ARISO LP contactless connectivity solution. This is designed as a contactless power and data link in appliances and other consumer-facing applications where power and/or data must be passed between a larger, stationary item and a movable part.

Power up to 5W at 12VDC can be delivered from a transmitter (PTx) module to a receiver (PRx) module via inductive coupling with no physical contact.Data is also supported via 2.4GHz wireless duplex communication and a proprietary protocol.

Various coil pair configurations support rotating, revolving and sliding movement of lids, covers, shelves, drawers and other parts, as well as detachment of the items.

For example:• Washing machine lid with integral user interface• Refrigerator shelf or drawer with integral LED lighting• Removable lid with sensor and display on countertop cooker.Wherever an application requires freedom of movement, unlimited mating cycles, exposure to high and low temperatures, resistance to fluids, dust, vibration and more.

• Do you need a solution to make a power and/or data connection between an appliance or other consumer equipment to its door, lid, shelf, cover or other movable part?

• Is the power requirement 5W or less?

• Does the movable part need to be detachable?

• Is the connection subject to a high number of mating cycles?

• Is the application in a challenging physical environment (temperature, moisture, vibration, etc.)?

There are other wireless connectivity options available on the market:

• TE’s own original ARISO contactless connectivity solution is a great product, but it is designed and manufactured for a very demanding industrial machinery environment. Consequently, is must be offered at a price point that is not appropriate for appliance and consumer applications. The ARISO LP product is focused on these applications at a lower price point.

• Numerous other wireless power solutions from other firms focus primarily on delivering power for applications such as battery charging for cell phones, tablets, etc. These typically support power only, while ARISO LP supports power and data at levels appropriate for appliances.
