PDMP PDMP is a tool that allows healthcare providers to meet regulatory mandates to query

state data bases for certain drugs in order to intervene for patient safety and mitigate

potential controlled substance abuse and drug diversion. PDMP queries will now be

integrated within the ePrescribing workflows and screens eliminating the need for

prescribers to log directly into the state database to run mandatory searches

1.0 Registration Registration is required at the prescriber and practice level to allow queries to be

made to the PDMP from within the ePrescribing workflows. Each state controls

access to the PDMP through an online registration process and every PRESCRIBER is

required to register themselves as part of this process.

1.1 Prescriber Registration If the prescriber is not already registered with state PDMP they will need to do so on

the state’s PDMP website. If the prescriber is already registered with the state and is

currently able to query the PDMP via the state portal, there is no need to re-register.

1.2 Practice Registration via Appriss Health An additional registration is required for any practice requesting PDMP queries

through the ePrescribing software directly. The practice will not be allowed to run

any PDMP queries until approval has been granted by the provider’s state. Change

Healthcare has partnered with Appriss Health to provide this integrated solution. The

Healthcare will not have the ability to provide any status updates. Any inquiries should

be directed back to Appriss Health.

• Adding or removing a caregiver for PDMP queries will require an

addendum to the contract (contact Appriss Health directly)

1.2.1 Registration within Clinical Exchange

When a user clicks on the PDMP button and the practice is not registered with

their state for PDMP queries, a PDMP Required Information page will pop up that will

provide information on the enrollment process. Following the steps on the screen will

ensure the proper information is submitted to Appriss Health about the practice and

contact information.

Please note: This registration process is handled by Appriss Health directly. Change

Healthcare will not have the ability to provide any status updates. Any inquiries should

be directed back to Appriss Health.

2.0 PDMP Queries

PDMP Queries can be run from multiple screens (New Rx Pad, Rx History,

Refill Request Details and Change Request Details) within the ePrescribing

workflow. The workflow and results are the same regardless of what screen the

user initiates the query from.

2.1 NewRX The user may click the PDMP button at any time on the New Rx Pad.

The PDMP Required Information screen will open. The user can select the

prescriber from the dropdown list and click Submit Query.

A new browser tab will open with the requested report. After viewing the report the

user will close the window and be returned to the previous screen.

NOTE: PDMP reports will not be stored. The report can only be viewed and dismissed.

2.2 Rx Authorizations PDMP queries are available in the details of a refill request and a change request

2.2.1 Refill Request

The process for viewing the report is the same as in New Rx. The PDMP button is

available in the details of the Refill Request

2.2.2 Rx Change

The process for viewing the report is the same as in New Rx. The PDMP button is

available in the details of the Change request for Generic Substitutions and Therapeutic

Interchanges.

2.3 Patient Chart-Rx History The user can also query for a report outside of the prescribing workflow directly

from the Rx History screen of a patient. A PDMP button is available next to the External

Drug History button.
