Create offline editing content on-the-fly with CLIPSTER’s brand

new burn-in feature set. RAW dailies are generated easily with RAW

material directly from RED®, ARRI, Sony, Phantom, Silicon Imaging,

and a host of other digital cameras, eliminating time-consuming

data processing sessions. CLIPSTER® provides the formats needed

for your offline workflow. The powerful CLIPSTER® engine generates

offline formats in HD/SD, Apple ProRes (422, 4444, HQ, LT, Proxy),

Avid DNxHD® or other commonly used compressed formats with

the metadata and header information burned into the picture.

Shooting in RAW mode provides the highest quality content and

delivers the utmost flexibility from acquisition through post produc-

tion. The CLIPSTER® hardware accelerator board easily decodes,

demosaics, and processes RAW content faster than real-time.

Moreover, it provides the ability to work with a full resolution RAW file

in 4K 12 bit RGB mode just like RED ONE®, RED EPIC®, ARRI ALEXA

and Sony F65 cameras. Simply drag and drop the RAW files directly

into the CLIPSTER® timeline and press “play.” No pre-processing or

back ground rendering is required. In addition to the video stream,

the audio and all of the metadata are utilized. A sophisticated tool-

set lets you view the camera parameters, enabling ultimate picture

control to achieve just the right look.

3D WORK F LOW

Whether you ingest 3D content using HD-SDI up to 30 frames per

second or use any file-based input format – CLIPSTER® simplifies

the handling of 3D content. Connect two independent streams in

the timeline, right away in the BIN or automatically on import and

both streams will be used in perfect synchronization. Stereo

tracks can be edited as regular video tracks – eliminating the need

to edit the left and right eyes separately. Play out and control both

streams simultaneously over HD-SDI or DVI. A routing feature

helps you to define the left and right eye outputs. Control depth in

real time up to 48 frames per second per eye with a special 3D

panel and the unique Stereoscopic Analyzer STAN – preparing you

for the high frame rate tasks to come. Conforming 3D content is

also painless with CLIPSTER’s sophisticated conforming tool; just

drag and drop the EDL onto the timeline and the stereoscopic im-

ages are created.

T HE RE A L-T IME DIG I TA L C A MER A R AW WORK F LOW

CLIPSTER’s unique Conforming Tool quickly manages and conforms

all original RAW content via EDL, FCP XML or ALE. Using the timecode

and reel number, the RAW files can be assembled on CLIPSTER’s

timeline. By using a split screen you can compare the 4K RAW 12 bit

material with the offline files from editorial, such as QuickTime® or

DNxHD®. CLIPSTER® color corrects or scales each format in real time.

DPX file sequences, for use in third-party color grading software,

are generated faster than real-time. With any RAW files in the time-

line you can control CLIPSTER® with your preferred color grader via

an RS-422 interface in highest quality.

CLIPSTER® enables the generation of DCI masters with 2D and 3D

content. Following the DCI specification, CLIPSTER® grants the ability

to create fast and secure stereoscopic Digital Cinema Packages

arrangement of delivered video, audio and

subtitle assets, heading into management

of different language versions, reel editing

and handling, image encoding, audio

labelling, correct package naming and

finally the generation of valid KDMs for the

individual cinemas and visual quality control

of the final images and subtitles. All this has

to happen within typically tight deadlines

where mistakes are not acceptable –

DCI Mastering is quite a challenge.

would seamlessly interact – in reality, there

are small but significant differences and

you have to make sure that your packages

are encoded in a way that all the various

players, cinema servers and Integrated

Media Blocks (IMB) are capable of handling

JPEG2000 hardware encoding, wrapping,

labelling and guided-naming are perfectly in

When creating the ideal 3D experience,

control over the available depth parameters

is critical and instant visual feedback is

essential. With these requirements in mind,

CLIPSTER® was designed to support all

available output formats to connect to single

or dual projection units and screens. If you

find yourself in a situation where only a 2D

screen is available, the anaglyph-mode

offers a safe fallback. Camera misalignments

while recording must be detected in order to

prevent vertical and rotational offsets from

showing in the editing room and in the

theaters. The highly sophisticated STAN

software (Stereoscopic Analyzer) is tightly

integrated into every CLIPSTER® offering the

most superior 3D error detection available in

the market. For manual correction, all neces-

sary parameters can also be edited and

animated. Use the overlay’s difference and

anaglyph modes to control the result, or

consult the all-new 3D depth histogram to

quickly reference depth allocation – including

configurable thresholds for maximum

disparities. For color differences, the

automatic color matching tool enables you

to align the look between both eyes. With

CLIPSTER’s D-Cinema player emulation, you

can easily control the quality of the final DCP

and view its integrated subtitles – both

standard and depth animated.
