03 Greater Kashmir SRINAGAR | July 10, 2016, Sunday Examinations postponed Govt responsive to people’s problems, concerns: Mehbooba Several deputations call on CM Srinagar, July 9: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today called for reaching out to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to resolve the issues confronting the State and ending the scourge of violence that has left behind a trail of death and destruction. “The pain of Kashmiris has reached a level where the hope of peace is sure to gain substantial local support if tangible confidence build- ing measures are taken to address the issues concerning the state and its people,” the Chief Minister said while interacting with several depu- tations during public hearing at her Private Office here today. Mehbooba, according to an official statement, said the people of Jammu and Kashmir, irrespective of their age, gender, status or the political affilia- tion, have been suffering the terrible consequences of the pernicious turmoil over the last more than two decades. “They now want peace and stabil- ity to take roots, and even within the prevailing circumstances there lies an opportunity to consolidate the peace efforts, if substantial steps are taken in the right direction to positively impact the ground situa- tion,” she said and stressed the need and urgency for reviving the peace and reconciliation initiatives, both on the internal and external fronts. Seeking people’s cooperation in stabilizing peace, the Chief Minister said; “The Government is responsive to the people’s needs and concerned about their problems and is work- ing judiciously and in a transparent manner to fulfill their aspirations and expectations.” Flagging the problem of unem- ployment as a matter of grave con- cern, she said every section of the society including individuals, insti- tutions and organizations, have to be brought together in a spirit of creative enterprise to widen the eco- nomic and employment space for the State’s youth and channelize their energies productively. Those who called on the Chief Minister with their grievances and demands included a delegation of parents of doctors led by Muham- mad Shafi Khanday, delegation of unemployed Veterinary doctors led by Ishfaq Ahmad Dhobi, delegation of cross-LoC traders led by Hilal Turkey, delegation of Doctors Asso- ciation Kashmir led by Dr Nissar-ul- Hassan, delegation of Gousia Artisan Union Khanyar led by Riyaz Ahmad Shah, delegation of Kashmir Arti- san Association led by Ghulam Nabi Khan, deputation of All J&K Trans- former Manufacturers & Repairs Association led by J D Wani, depu- tation of CIC Operators led by Razia, deputation of Kashmir Drugs, Surgi- cal Machines Suppliers Association and deputation of Kashmir Traders & Manufacturers Federation led by Mir Hafizullah, the statement said. Besides, several civil society members and individuals from across the State also called on the Chief Minister to seek speedy redress of their grievances and demands. The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to the deputations and indi- viduals and said that their genuine demands would be given due consid- eration by the Government. She said the government is alive to the public demands and necessary measures are afoot to upgrade basic amenities and ensure prompt public service delivery. Mehbooba said wherever necessary additional focus would be laid to address the people’s demands on priority. Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Navin Kumar Choud- hary was also present during the public hearing. GKNN Chief of Jama'at-ud- Da'wah, Hafiz Saeed, along with others pay tributes to top Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in Islamabad, Pakistan on Saturday. Burwan Wani was killed in an encounter with security forces and police in Kokernag area in Kashmir Friday evening. Srinagar, July 9: Various examinations have been postponed indefinitely owing to the situation in Kashmir in the wake of the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen com- mander Burhan Wani. The UGC-NET exam which was scheduled to be held tomor- row has been postponed by CBSE in Srinagar where curfew-like restrictions were imposed fol- lowing protests over the killing of Burhan Wani in an encounter. "All the candidates appear- ing in UGC-NET scheduled to be held on July 10, 2016 at Sri- nagar city are informed that due to unavoidable circum- stances, this examination is being postponed," CBSE said in a statement today. The next date of examina- tion for all these candidates will be announced in due course of time, it said. There are 16 examination centres in Srinagar, in which 10,255 candidates are regis- tered for the examination. J&K Public Service Com- mission (JKPSC) has also post- poned the exam for the post of Medical Officer and Medical Officer Ayurvedic which was scheduled to be held tomorrow. According to an order issued by Public Service Commission Secretary, it is notified for information of all the candidates who have applied for the post of Medical Officer and Medical Officer Ayurvedic that the written test which is scheduled on 10.07.2016 has been postponed till further orders. Next date shall be notified separately. JKBOPEE has also post- poned counseling for 3-year Diploma Polytechnic Engi- neering, scheduled on 10th and 11th July. Next dates will be notified separately. Islamic University of Sci- ence and Technology (IUST) has postponed the Group dis- cussion/ personal interview for admission to the MBA course which was scheduled to be held on July 10, 11 and 12. In a statement, an IUST spokesman said that new dates will be announced separately. The Central University of Kashmir also postponed the interview for the post of Assistant Librarian which was scheduled on 10th of July. The next date for the same would be announced shortly, the CUK said in a statement. Kashmir University has also postponed all examina- tions including B Ed examina- tion, which was scheduled to be held on July 11. Fresh dates for the deferred examinations would be notified separately, said a statement. GKNN Mobile internet services snapped in Jammu BIVEK MATHUR Jammu, July 9: Apprehending “misuse” of social networking sites, Divisional Administra- tion here this evening snapped the mobile internet services in Jammu region. “To stop rumor mongering on social networking sites, we have temporarily blocked the internet services in Jammu region”, Divisional Commis- sioner, Pawan Kotwal told Greater Kashmir. The Divisional official how- ever said that a decision about liſting of ban will be taken aſter a review meeting in the night. Pertinently, Kashmir valley is witnessing series of protests and stone pelting incidents aſter the killing of HM Commander, Burhan Wani in an encounter with security forces and police in Kokernag area last evening. On delay in imposing restric- tions in Jammu, he said, “Situ- ations are entirely different in Jammu. So, aſter we felt it is the right time for doing so, we did it”. Meanwhile, fearing law and order problems in examination centers of Srinagar city, the University Grant Commission (UGC) postponed the UGC-NET examination in all examination centers across Srinagar City. However, the exam will be held as per schedule at Jammu. Rajnath appeals for peace in Kashmir New Delhi, July 9: Home Minister Rajnath Singh today appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to remain calm and maintain peace after violent protests followed killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in an encounter. "I appeal to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to remain calm and maintain peace," he said in a statement. Singh said the central government is working with the Jammu and Kashmir government to bring normalcy in Kashmir Valley. "Deeply anguished at the loss of precious lives in the incidents of violence in Jammu and Kashmir, I also pray for the speedy recovery of those injured," he said. Wani was killed, along with two of his accomplices, in an encounter in Kokernag area yesterday. Examinations postponed
