Teachers use a variety of strategies to make consistent, evidence-based judgement about student achievement, based on individual learning progress as well as stage outcomes comparisons. Teachers offer students the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and understanding through a variety of products to ensure we cater for different types of learners and different abilities. Teacher observation of a child’s learning process and collaboration skills is also a vital tool in knowing our students well, showing where the child is at, where they have come from and the short term and long term goals appropriate for them. This week, teachers participated in further analysis of the NAPLAN and will use this data alongside the immense data collected on your child throughout the year. Reporting is done on a Semester basis and therefore focuses on learning in Terms 3 and 4. We are impressed by our students’ developing capacity to take on challenges without being hindered by the unfound fear of making mistakes. We have worked hard to build a culture that mistakes are okay and an essential part of learning and mastering skills and concepts. YEAR 5 BUDDIES AND 2020 KINDERGARTEN Year 5 students were excited to meet their buddies on Monday and were a fabulous help in the classroom and out in the playground. We look forward to the third Kindergarten Orientation next Wednesday from 9 – 12:30pm. K – 6 INTENSIVE SWIMMING SCHEME Next week all students will receive a note regarding the Intensive swimming scheme which is scheduled for 18 th November until 29 th November.

All students and staff participate in this vital, life-saving program. The program caters for non-swimmers to very capable swimmers. You will also receive another note requesting parent / carer helpers. Your child’s safety and wellbeing is our highest priority and we need a large number of helpers to observe children in the water and in some cases help out in the water. All adults attending these lessons must have their Working with Children Check. We hope you can help us out on one or more of the days. Michelle Slee Principal

Clunes Sign – refreshed A huge thank you to Mrs Henderson and her husband Geoff for repairing the mosaic sign at the carpark entrance; and to Mr Shepherd, our GA, and Mr Mortimer, our cleaner, who assisted with erecting the sign.

P&C News Thank you to everyone who showed up for our first meeting for this term on Monday night. We have 2 co-ordinators for the Year 6 Dinner. We greatly appreciate Joan Waterford and Rini Coady for their amazing support for this special event. The 2week intensive swimming program runs from 18-29th November and the school needs parents/carers to support this great opportunity for our kids. It's always a fun time and you will only be needed for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. You will need a WWCC which is very easy to obtain over the internet. Please contact Berni or Andrea if you can volunteer during this time. Our next meeting will be Monday 4th November at 6.15pm. Come along as this is our last term and there are some exciting events and we always welcome and love new faces to assist the P&C team in any way.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow the world takes the opportunity to acknowledge and thank teachers for their inspiring and nurturing hard work. Teachers wear many hats and the families of teachers will tell you it’s not a job for them, it’s a lifestyle. It is a very privileged position to work with children and it brings so much joy and intrinsic reward to those who love teaching and can see their dedication, skill and care making a difference in the

lives of those they teach. I feel very fortunate to work with a creative and

collaborative team at Clunes Public School and that includes our casual teachers and music tutors. There

are constant changes in education but, fantastic technology, beautiful grounds, creatively

designed buildings, fancy furniture and dazzling resources, mean nothing without a quality teacher who

cares. Thank you Clunes Public School Teachers!

Clunes OSHC Clunes OSHC has been helping children settle into its routines with a focus on spontaneous play and relaxation, encouraging them to indicate their preferences during the new electronic sign in period.

Children have responded with ingenuity and imagination, creating whole group cubbies and tracks outside for the army figures and vehicles, or trying unfamiliar equipment and toys. Learning how to use the traditional ‘ball in a stocking ‘we utilised the internet to research the 70’s rhymes which accompany the game, swinging the ball against a wall and under the player’s leg.

We extended the learning by making up our own verse and Aggie made it even harder by replacing the original ‘sir’

refrain with two different names, which really tested our powers of concentration and coordination. Well done Aggie! Clunes OSHC is available for after school care and vacation care. We will be open at the end of Term 4 on Thursday 19th, Friday 20th, Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th December. But to attend your child/ren must be enrolled with Clunes OSHC Northern Rivers Children’s Services. Phone 0437
