  • 1. All payments must be received by the Academy before 30 September.According to Bylaw 6.4: If a member's fee or any other moneys due by a member to the Academy is notreceived by the Academy within 9 months a䏼䎩er such payment falls due, despitetwo wri鿑en reminders by the Academy to pay, the member shall automa㹚Őcallyforfeit his membership.

    2. It is Council's policy that late subscrip㹚Őons received by the Academy a䏼䎩er 30June will be subject to a surcharge of 5% on the subscrip㹚Őon amount.

    3. For Fellows who have authorized payment via bank transfer / credit card,payments will be deducted from their bank accounts or credit cardautoma㹚Őcally.

    Visit to WHO China Office & NHFPC in Beijing and Shanghai EastHospital, 5 ‐ 8 April 2016

    President led a 5‐member delega㹚Őon joining the experts from World HealthOrganiza㹚Őon (WHO) Emergency Medical Teams for a visit to the WHO ChinaOffice and Na㹚Őonal Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) in Beijingand a visit to the Shanghai East Hospital. The aim of this visit was to explore thepossible collabora㹚Őon between the Academy's Hong Kong Jockey Club DisasterPreparedness and Response Ins㹚Őtute (HKJC DPRI) and the WHO on the capacitybuilding for Emergency Medical Teams in China. With the mee㹚Őngs and visits,the Academy delega㹚Őon has built up closer networks with its counterparts inWHO and Mainland China. We are expec㹚Őng to engage more collabora㹚Őveini㹚Őa㹚Őves among relevant par㹚Őes in future.

    The Academy Council organized Council Dinner on 14 April 2016 to furtherenhance collabora㹚Őon among medical professionals, industry experts and theAcademy. President extended our hearᑅŐelt thanks and apprecia㹚Őon to thosecommi鿑ee members who assist in different commi鿑ees of the Academy,namely Dr. Philip Wu, Chairman of the Academy's Finance and InvestmentCommi鿑ee; Mr. Francis Ka, member of the Academy's Finance and InvestmentCommi鿑ee and Mr. Jacob Tse, Honorary Legal Advisor of the Academy. Mr.Wing‐wah Tsang, Vice‐President (Regula㹚Őons) of the Hong Kong Academy ofNursing Limited; Ms. Iris Chang, President of the Hong Kong Academy ofPharmacy also a鿑ended the dinner. The Academy's Council Members and ourinvited guests spent a nice evening together.

     

    Academy delega㹚Őon visi㹚Őng Boston, 28 April ‐ 1 May 2016

    A 8‐member delega㹚Őon led by the President visited Boston recently and metwith different par㹚Őes, including the Center for Medical Simula㹚Őon (CMS),Harvard FXB Center for Health and Human Rights, and Brigham and Women'sHospital (BWH). With different mee㹚Őngs held, further collabora㹚Őon betweenthe Academy and CMS was discussed, the project status of the ResearchAgreement between the Academy and the Harvard School of Public Health wasreviewed with the way forward agreed, and the possible collabora㹚Őon withBWH was iden㹚Őfied. Apart from mee㹚Őngs and visits, the delega㹚Őon also visitedthe STRATUS Center for Medical Simula㹚Őon of BWH, and a鿑ended a simula㹚Őondrill at Harold Parker State Forest arranged by the Harvard HumanitarianIni㹚Őa㹚Őve.

    President delivered a presenta㹚Őon on"Specialist Training of Hong Kong College ofFamily Physicians" at an annual conference forGeneral Prac㹚Ő㹚Őoners organised by the ChineseMedical Doctor Associa㹚Őon in Beijing. Heprovided his insights into several issues facingthe family physicians, as well as the concept of"a 5‐star doctor". During the Conference,President also met Mr. Liu Qian, DeputyDirector of the Na㹚Őonal Health and FamilyPlanning Commission, Dr. Zhang Yanling,President of the CMDA and Dr. Zeng Yixin,President of the Peking University Hospital.

    Comprehensive Simula㹚Őon Educator Course, 18, 19, 25 & 26June 2016

    The Comprehensive Simula㹚Őon Educator Course (CSEC) aims to provide theessen㹚Őal knowledge, and develop learners’ competence, in planning asimula㹚Őon‐based educa㹚Őon ac㹚Ővity, scenario development, direc㹚Őon, execu㹚Őonand debriefing methods. This course will enable the par㹚Őcipants to have anunderstanding of the basic concepts of learner‐centred educa㹚Őon.

    Different types of simulators and simula㹚Őon techniques, and their respec㹚Őveapplica㹚Őons will be covered to provide the par㹚Őcipants with the resources fortheir teaching purposes. At the end of the course, the par㹚Őcipants will have thebasic knowledge and skill to plan and run a simula㹚Őon‐based training course,develop the necessary training material, direct a scenario and debrief thelearners on the learning objec㹚Őves. The course also intends to cul㹚Ővate interestand passion in simula㹚Őon‐based educa㹚Őon, and learners are provided withdifferent methods to maintain and enhance their knowledge and skills insimula㹚Őon‐based educa㹚Őon.
