FOREWORD Cockburn Cricket Club’s Yearbook celebrates the achievements and the bloopers for the season that was 1999/2000. This Year Book provides you with a comprehensive look into player statistics, milestones and most importantly club achievements - including the three winning Premiership teams. 1ST GRADE REPORT & FINALS Season 1999/2000 saw Cockburn ‘A’ Grade win its third premiership In the past decade. After finishing the season win nine wins (8 of them in a row) our finest performance was saved until last, in which we humiliated last years premiers CBC (cheque book club) who were routed for 56 chasing a respectable 174 This has capped of a successful end to the millennium having figured as finals contenders for the past six years. This year, after a strong off season recruiting campaign, saw a rock sold performance throughout, with only three sides making more then 150. Our bowling attack was ably led by Werner Spatzl and was well supported by Clinton Mitchell, Preston Holland, Wayne Moore, Lui Santaromita, Carlo Raffaele and Robert Zabica. Special mention must also be made of Matt Ferraro who smashed the club record for the most number of dismissals in a season. The batting department, although not outstanding in comparison to previous years, saw an even performance, with all players contributing at different stages of the season. One cannot undermine the effort of those who successfully earnt their spot in the “A” grade side throughout the year. To all those players I thank you for your efforts in helping achieve “A” grades success. To Owen, Dave and Kellee Kay we thankyou for your great assistance throughout the year, and to Bob our local club patron we thank you also. On a personal note I would like to thank the committee, coach and selectors for giving me the opportunity to captain such a talented side. One achieving this success, the focus should now turn to next year in an attempt to create another club first by winning back to back flags. Thankyou Paul Mirco Captain

2ND GRADE REPORT Firstly I would like to thank the committee in giving me the opportunity to Captain the 2nd’s over the last two seasons. To Fedele on his success in coaching, and willingness to get the best out of people is truly a gift. I thank him for his support and words of advise, in keeping me always positive and supportive in what ever I did (thanks Bro), and well done. We finuished the regular season in sixth position on the ladder which I truly believe is no indication of out ability. We must learn that when there are close games of cricket to be won we must grab it with both hands and take that opportunity, because at the end of the day that cost us a finals placing. It was disappointing in not making the finals, that’s what we all play for, but at the same time I as captain and the club overall must feel satified to see the progress of our younger players over the last two seasons progress and really take the next step to the highest level, that will see the Cockburn Cricket Club be a force for many years to come. Over the year, seconds lost four games to CBC, Maddington, East Fremantle and Kenwick who all finished in the top four and consequently all those losses were chasing runs. Consistency with out batting was the main downfall of out losses. We must learn to concentrate mentally and value our wickets and not wait for the bloke to do the job for us. We must learn from our mistakes and strive always to improve every time we play. To all that performed with the bat throughout the year well done. To our bowlers who performed throughout the year and won us games, well done on your efforts, and the pleasing part about that it was our younger players that performed throughout (well done to all). Remember we as players should always aspire to play at the highest level which creates a health rivalry within our club, and ourselves. The seconds have had disappointments ove the last few years in not making the finals, we must continue to work harder and to believe in ourselves and our ability that success is just around the corner, we must believe that it is going to happen. The challenge will be there for us again next season. To Steve Camarda and his committee on a great job, well done. Also Dave Kay and Kelly for their great help on match days you made my job so much easier. To Owen Slater for his great contribution and bob for his score board updates, and also the selectors on a job well done. And to any one I have missed my apologies. To the A grade 4th’s and 5th grades on their successful year well done on your efforts and to the 3rd’s commiseration. Well done to all trophy winners. In conclusion, I would like to thank everyone that has played seconds over the last two years during my captaincy, that have supported me and made my job enjoyable. To fedele as Vice Captain for his support thanks. I have enjpyed the challenge and truly it has been an experience in captaining the 2nd grade (trust me). I will be passing the reins onto who ever that may be and I wish tham all the success, Because I know success is just around the corner and I truly believe that. 4A GRADE REPORT & FINAL Firstly I would like to thank Fedele and Martin for the opportunity to captain 4th Grade. It has been a great season for 4th grade and the entire club which, is reflected on the great efforts and hard work of Fedele and Werner this season, Thank you. On a personal point, I learnt a great deal about the game this year and appreciate the effort that a captain puts into a team. I would like to thank Dave Perse and Eric Green for their help this year as they nade my job a lot easier, with their input throughout the season. The 4th grade side had a very good season I think mainly because we played and bonded as a team, backed each other. There were many individual highlights this year, Eric Green’s 8 for 12 against Gosnells, Alveys winning 6 runs in the last over against Roleystone in a one dayer and Hitchcock’s 6 wickets verses Maddington, just to name a few. We finished 3rd on the ladder and bet Phoenix in the Semi, to gain the right to play the topside Roleystone. We batted first and finally clicked with the bat making 202, which ended up being more than enough, rolling them for 98, with Doc taking his second eight wicket hall for the year, super effort Doc. 5TH GRADE REPORT Firstly I would like to thank Fedele Camarda, Werner Spatzel, Martyn Ferris and the Committee of the Cockburn Cricket Club in giving me the opportunity to Captain 5th Grade for the Season 1999/2000. Our Grand Final Victory was just the icing on the cake, becoming the first fifth Grade Millenium Premiership Team. Our batsman did the job throughout the year particular Aaron Savage, Joe Covic, Rodney Nelson, and Con Paratore. A special mention must be given to Aaron Savage (our MVP ) who at most times had to Dig deep for various solid innings. Aaron Batted at no 3 all Season and always the did the job, I had complete faith in Aaron at all times, another Special mention must go to Joe "The Finals Specialist" Covic who produced his best once again hitting 72 in the Semi final and 67 in the Grand Final. Nick Cantatore and Aaron Savage also contributed well with the bat in the Grand Final, Nick htting 44 and Aaron hitting a Solid 33. Well done guys, Our Bowlers had an excellent Season once again, pick of the bowlers was Vic Locantro picking up 28 Wickets in the Home and away Season. Anthony Plackett produced another great season picking up 24 Wickets for the Season. Chandra "The Destroyer" Nadason produced a great Season in 5th Grade picking up a total of 30 Wickets, which consisted of 5 wickets in the Semi Final and 5 Wickets in the Grand Final, His accuracy and pace baffled the oppostion batsman..Both Aaron and Myself also had taken over 15 Wickets this Season. Well Done Guys. A special Mention must also go to Rob Gallagher and Con Paratore who both had solid finish to the Season , Rob hitting over 150 runs and Con hitting 236 Runs to end the Season on a high note. Well Done Guys. Finally I would like to thank Fedele on giving me the opportunity to Captain 5th Grade. It has been an honour to represent the Club as Captain and winning a Premiership as First Year Captain. I would also like to congratulate the 1st Grade and 4th Grade on there premiership Wins. Comerisirations to 3rd Grade who were unlucky not to bring the Pennant Back. Hopefully next Season will only be better. Anthony Paratore Captain.

6TH GRADE REPORT

The 99/2000 has come to an end and although we didn’t win as often as I would have liked, I can still say I thoroughly enjoyed the season and would like to thank the club for giving me the opportunity to captain the 6th grade side.

There are a lot of positives to be taken from the season and it has proved to be a very valuable one for the club particular with amount of talent shown by the new players. Robbie Gallagher, Mark Zane, Andy Williams and the Juniors who played towards the end have all shown the ability to play higher grades next year.

Congratulations to Dave Campbell who scored 101 not out in his debut game. It was unfortunate that a few other players missed out narrowly on their centuries.

I hope the new players hang around and add depth to the club. Also to all my players, I hope you enjoyed the season as much as I have.
