SMSD TEACHER SPOTLIGHT
Rudy Roberts' students will tell you that he rocks, so it's no surprise that
the Stafford Intermediate Teacher of the Month is from the City That
Rocks, Cleveland, Ohio!
"Being named Teacher of the Month is an honor," said Roberts, who
teaches Sixth Grade Math. "I pride myself on being able to relate to my
students."
Roberts earned a full basketball scholarship to Fairmont State
University in West Virginia, where he earned a degree in Health
Science/Nutrition.
He moved to Houston and became interested in teaching, so he was a
substitute teacher first. Then, he became certified in teaching
Mathematics.
"I like mentoring -- it's natural for me to mentor and teach," Roberts said.

SPARTAN SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Stafford High is starting a new initiative, the Spartan Scholarship Assistance Program. Our intent is to
help high school students submit scholarship applications in a timely and professional manner....
The goal of this initiative is to ensure our students are being awarded the maximum number of
scholarship dollars.
We need the community’s support. We need volunteers who can donate a minimum of two (2) hours
each month.
Volunteers can help in different ways. They include:
• identifying scholarship opportunities
• encouraging students to apply for scholarships
• proofreading paperwork and essays
• following up with students and their parents to ensure scholarships are completed professionally
and on-time.
If you are interested in volunteering your time for this initiative, please contact:
