COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE

Purdue University’s College of Agriculture is a world leader among colleges of agricultural, food, life, and natural resource sciences. As a land-grant institution, we prepare students for careers that will make an impact; we stretch the frontiers of science to address our most pressing global challenges; and we help the people of Indiana, the nation, and the world improve their lives and livelihoods.

Leadership is an expectation in our College. Our faculty, staff, and students lead at the university, local, state, national, and global levels in defining issues, solving problems, and delivering timely solutions.

We prepare students to make a difference through exemplary teaching, mentoring, experiences in and outside the classroom, and enhanced partnerships with public and private organizations.

Our research has purpose, and we do world-leading science aimed at feeding a growing world, ensuring food safety, developing new products from renew-able feedstocks, conserving precious natural resources, and other real-world problems.

Through Purdue Extension and engagement programs, we take Purdue Agriculture to every corner of Indiana, and every corner of the world, to deliver high-impact, science-based education. People. Purpose. Impact. Purdue Agriculture.

Through Ever True: The Campaign for Purdue University, we will move Purdue Agriculture forward by:

§ Engaging students in a world-class academic curriculum and transfor-mational co-curricular experiences;

§ Ensuring that faculty and staff have the resources to achieve their bold-est aspirations in the classroom, the field, and the laboratory; and

§ Improving our facilities — both on campus and across the state — so they support world-leading science and education programs.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

The College of Agriculture has identified four areas where your support is critically needed: student support, study abroad endowments, endowed professorships and faculty support, and facilities (please see back). Your donations can be directed to any of these areas, or you may designate a different area of your choosing.

UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENT SUPPORT

Student support is an investment — an investment in the future of Purdue and in the next generation of Boilermakers. With your help, the College of Agriculture will continue to deliver on the promise of “Higher education at the highest proven value” for all students.

§ Scholarships and financial aid grants for bright young minds.

§ New and creative alternatives to help Purdue Agriculture recruit a more diverse student population.

STUDY ABROAD ENDOWMENTS

The College of Agriculture is a leader in sending students to experience the world. Future employers benefit from their cross-cultural experiences and the ability to work — and lead — across geographic, national, and cultural borders. Currently, 28% of Purdue Agriculture students graduate with an international experience.

§ Our goal is to encourage 40% of our students to study abroad. Endowments to reduce travel costs encourage Purdue students to make a global experience a part of their Purdue education.

ENDOWED PROFESSORSHIPS AND FACULTY SUPPORT

Faculty are the core of Purdue Agriculture. Our commitment to recruit and retain the very best faculty in all fields ensures that our College will continue its legacy of high-impact discoveries and life-changing teaching.

§ We seek to increase the number of endowed professorships to recruit and retain exceptional scholars, researchers, and teachers.

FACILITIES

People are the key to Purdue Agriculture’s excellence, but faculty and staff need quality facilities to realize their aspirations.

§ We seek funding for the Plant Sciences Automated Phenotyping Facility and for the expansion and renovation of other key buildings in the College.

§ We also seek to fund a novel endowed College of Agriculture Facility Fund to support future renovations and infrastructure upgrades, as well as additional investment to equip the eight regional Purdue Agricultural Centers to help us serve the research needs of agricultural producers across our state.
