Dear Bob:The Collier County Sheriffs Office is extremely interested in the possibility of crosstraining a select number ofour law enforcement members, approximately 20, pursuant tothe provisions of Section 287(g), Delegation of Immigration Authority, under theImmigration and Nationality Act.We have already established a great working relationship and partnership with DHS IICE, and would like to increase our working ability as a law enforcement agency to assistin identifying, detaining and removing illegal foreign nationals from Collier County. Ibelieve the 287(g) designation within several investigative units throughout the agencywould strongly augment our ability to assist ICE in helping protect our community andnation.Thank you for your direction and a s s i s t a I l ~ in moving us through the contractual,training and operational processes. I believe our partnership with I.C.E. has beendemonstrated to be effective a.'1d in the best interests of he public.
