LEEDLEEDWhat is the LEED system?

LEADERSHIP inENERGY andENVIRONMENTALDESIGNA voluntary, international system for certifying design, construction and operations of green buildings

LEEDLEEDScores are given for performance in six key areas:

1. SITE DEVELOPMENT(site selection; i.e. not building on green land, public transit access, use of native plants)

2. WATER EFFICIENCY(water use, landscape irrigation)

3. ENERGY(optimization of energy performance, ozone protection)

4. MATERIAL USE(building materials used and construction recycling)

5. INDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL AIR QUALITY(ventilation, low-emitting carpet, paints and adhesives)

6. INNOVATION & DESIGN PROCESS
