Community CPR 30 is a non-accredited program with noformal assessment and, therefore, nostatement of attendance orqualification is issued. It forms part ofthe SAAS H.E.A.R.T program, which aimsto improve “out of hospital cardiacarrest” survival rates in South Australia.
Community CPR 30 is a free programand the running time is 30 minutes.
Maximum class size is 20 people persession. Send an email ray [email protected] you are interested.
Community CPR-30 is the South AustralianAmbulance Service (SAAS) program designed toallow SAAS to engage with our community, encouraging them to be a part of the cardiac arrestchain of survival.
The use of a short video and simple inflatablemanikins allows participants to practise some keycomponents of basic life support in a relaxed, non-threatening environment. SAAS trainers will guideparticipants, provide feedback on techniques, andanswer questions regarding CPR and AED use.
Community CPR 30 does not replace nationallyaccredited CPR/AED training programs asrequired bymany professions or workplace first aid codes of practise.Bringing local residents &

Local Theft on the Rise: Vehicles TargettedWhilst thefts are occur across many
suburbs, of particular note is theamount of thefts in the suburbs ofSeacombe Heights, Seacombe Downs,Dover Gardens and Seacliff Park.Of particular concern is the amount oftools and power tools being stolen fromvehicles and sheds, with many of theseoccurring from unsecured vehicles andbuildings. Of note are many of thevehicles targeted are utilities and‘tradies’ vehicles.Almost a 1/3 of all vehicle thefts
reported to Sturt police in April werefrom insecure vehicles.Whilst offences occur across all hoursof the night and day, a significant
number have occurred during the hoursof darkness. Whilst tools are a specific
target, other unattended itemsincluding; wallets, cash, laptops andtablets have also been stolen. As ‘tradies’ you require your tools to beable to undertake your work; having yourtools stolen is an inconvenience that canbe prevented.Whilst police are able to locate stolenproperty, it is preferable to prevent theftin the first instance.Police encourage the marking of personalproperty with your driver’s licence number
preceded by ‘S’ for South Australia. E.g.S123456. Photograph your tools & identifyany markings or distinguishing features.

People are feeling less safe in their homeand at public gatherings, according toRAA’s 2018 Security Report.
More than a third of respondents (36%) feltSouth Australia was not as safe now as itwas two years ago, according to RAA’ssurvey of almost 400 members.
On the home front, one-in-five respondentssaid they felt less safe from intruders duringthe past 12 months.
This compared to just over one-in-ten whosaid they felt safer at home, while 68 percent reported no change.
RAA Secure Services spokesman BenNottage said it was worrying that morepeople felt less secure in their home in thepast year.
“This is reflected by a 25 per cent increasein enquiries we have had for home securitysystems during the same time,’’ he said.
“People are seeking advice about personalalarm systems as well as home andmonitored alarms.’’
The report also found:
• More women (37%) and men (30%)would not attend a public event due tosecurity concerns.
• People also felt the least safe in largecrowds (19%) and most safe when outwith friends (3%).
• Adelaide residents were more concernedabout safety in the community (20%)compared to those living in the regions(14%).
Almost two-thirds of respondents alsosaid they had become more worriedabout a terrorist attack in SA during thepast two years.
Terrorist attacks overseas and interstatein recent years have seen authoritiesidentify potential risks in this state andinvest in security upgrades.
This includes greater scrutiny of sportsfans attending Adelaide Oval and morethan $1m spent on security measuresat the city’s top tourist attractions, suchas installing bollards at Rundle Mall andthe Adelaide Central Market.
While most respondents welcomedextra security measures at public eventsand at public places, the heightenedsecurity levels were causing anxiety, the report showed.
According to the survey, four-in-fiverespondents said increased security atpublic events made them feel safer.
However, almost half of respondentssaid, “increased security at publicevents makes me worried about mypersonal safety’’
Mr Nottage said terror attacksinterstate and overseas had naturallyraised people’s concerns our statecould potentially be targeted.
“Security measures such as installingbollards at Rundle Mall highlight thepotential risks and we see that reflectedin the survey,’’ he said.
