Facts:A comet is a very small solar system bodyComets are usually made up of frozen waterWhen a comet gets closer to the sun it starts experiencing heatComets are usually elliptical (pertaining to)All comets orbit the sunA comets core is like a dirty snow ballMore Facts:Comets have their own atmospheresComets have 2 tails not 1 tailComets leftovers create meteor showersComets can come to be extinct or explode

Pictures:

LOOKS:Color:It is a grayish, bluish colorThey look like Dirty Snowballs They have a tail called NucleusDry, dusty surfaces

5Why is a comet important:They represent the remnant from early in the era of our solar systemComets provide hints to chemical conditions

The Comets SizeThe comets size depends on how close it is to. the sun.A tail also forms when it is closer to the sun. When it is closer to the sun the ices on the surface vaporize and form a cloud called a coma around the Nucleus.

Random Fact of the DayA comet is a small system body, that when it gets closer to the sun it begins to outgas. It begins to display visible atmosphere or a coma. Even a tail.

How Does it WorkThe Nucleus is the main, solid part of the comet. It can be as big as 100 kilometers. The Coma is a halo of evaporated gas, and dust that surrounds the Nucleus. The coma is made up as the comet warms up. It can be 1000 times larger than the Nucleus. The comets Dust tails always faces away from the sun. It is made up of small dust particles. The dust tail is the easiest part of the comet to see.Sometimes the Gas tail disappears and comes back when the comet crosses a boundary.
