Our Veterans Day program is not on the actual Veterans Day. It, instead, is on Tuesday, November 3rd, AKA Election Day, 1:30 PM-2:30 PM. Now, you might be wondering why we have it on November 3rd and not on November 11th. Well, there will be a bunch of other major events on the real Veterans Day. Most people would go there rather than to our program. So, on November 3rd, we would have more veterans here to thank. At the Veterans Day program, The veterans, well some of them, at least, will be carrying an assortment of flags. Then, we will recite the Pledge Of Allegiance towards the U.S. flag. then, we will have an intro from our principal, Mr. Phares. Then the meadowlarks are going to sing our school song. (Everyone that knows it will follow along) Afterwards, they will sing The Star Spangled Banner. After that, we ask the veterans of the Navy to stand up as kindergarten and 1st grade sing Anchors Aweigh to honor them. After that, all the other grades will stand up, one by one, to sing their grade’s song. Now, last but not least, the veterans of the most known branch, the Army, will stand up as 5th grade and 4/5 GT sing The Army Goes Rolling Along to honor the veterans of the Army as they are standing. Now you might be saying: “Whoa whoa whoa wait a second, the song was originally The Caissons Go Rolling Along!” Well, yes, but not a lot of people know what a caisson is anymore. So, we replace every time it uses “caisson” with Army. And last, we have all the veterans stand up and give them a round of applause. Now is the sad part. The trumpeters will play Tapps. Tapps is a song played to honor those who gave their lives for freedom to us. Many of the soldiers will salute while the trumpeter/s are playing Tapps. Most times, the trumpeters are “veterans” of Towne Meadow. Ha ha. Get it? Oh, umm, that was a bad joke, wasn’t it, well, onto other things. Between each song, they will have people hold up letter cards to spell out the branch the next song honors. They'll also have people give facts and info about the upcoming branch to be honored. Wait… or was it the last one? Well, that’s embarrassing. But back to the end of the program. So, last of all, the meadowlarks will sing Thank You Soldiers, which, in my opinion is the best song I’ve ever heard at Towne Meadow. But before that, they will turn the lights off to set the mood and because there is a slideshow to go with the song. Then the lights come back on. We give the veterans all one big round of ap- plause. You will also see Mr. Lamie giving out manikins to the winning contestants of the Veterans Day poster contest. Then they will close the colors. The program is over. Every- one stretches from the hour of sitting as they wait for their teachers to pick them up. Note that this program ends when school ends, so if you go, then you can check your children out and drive them home. Veterans Day is here! Get ready to hear some great military songs in our Veterans Day

program. But don't be fooled. Our Veterans Day program is not on the actual Veterans

Day. It, instead, is on Tuesday, November 3rd, AKA Election Day, 1:30 PM-2:30 PM.

people would go there rather than to our program. So, on November 3rd, we would have

ADVICE BY ERIN

Dear Erin,

What should I do if all my class-

mates are upset with me?

~ James

Dear James,

Why don't you ask your class-

mates about why they are upset

with you. Or, think about what

you might have done that could

had made them upset with you.

~ Erin

Dear Erin,

For whatever reason, I am real-

ly sad in school. What should I

do?

~ Abigail

Dear Abigail,

Why don't you try and cheer up!

Talk with your friends or family

about it. There should be a solu-

tion to your problem.
