Order of Events

Renée succeeded her father, Henry Herzing, as president of the Herzing University System on March 1st, 2009. After attaining a bachelor’s degree from Brown University, she taught abroad in Scotland and Germany for nine years before completing her Masters in Business Administration online.

She has worked in various positions at Herzing University at the campus level, including registrar,

director of admissions, and president of Herzing University online. In addition, Ms. Herzing has overseen the System’s online, strategic planning, and information technology initiatives. She launched the System’s Online division in 2003, which has grown from 100 students to over 2500 students. Ms. Herzing has been a member of several boards including the Boy’s and Girl’s Club and the Board of Directors for the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities (APSCU).

She is also active in business groups such as YPO and various educational idea-sharing groups. Outside of work, Renée enjoys travel, music, and most of all, spending time with her husband and two children.

Herzing University had its beginning in 1965 when it started as a computer training institute in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1970 the name was changed to Herzing Institute, and the organization began to grow through the acquisition of other schools. These included the Wisconsin School of Electronics in Madison, Wisconsin, which has a history dating back to 1948. Later, the Milwaukee location was closed in favor of the Madison location, but the system headquarters has remained in Milwaukee. The name of the school was changed to Herzing College in 1996, and the institution has grown to nine campuses plus Herzing Online. With the addition of graduate programs, the name was changed to Herzing University in 2009.
