    Please see important dates and events of the East Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists below.

    (1) EJC to Host District Dialogue with Golden Spring District at Golden Acres - July 27, 2013 at 4pm

    The East Jamaica Conference presents District dialogue on Sabbath July 27, 2013. This time we will joinwith the members of the Golden Spring District, beginning at 4pm sharp. We invite all members in thatDistrict to join us at Golden Acres, Golden Spring, where we will seek to update you on the work of theConference and to explore new and dynamic methods of enhancing the mission of the church. Please be ontime.

    (2) Day of Prayer for The Nation - August 3, 2013

    The first Sabbath in August has always been designated as a day when the church prays for the nation. Weinvite the church to pray for our leaders, the family, the security force, and for a reduction in crime andviolence in the country. It is also strongly recommended that distribution of the Great Controversy beincorporated in the day's activities. Please see flyer below from Pastor Dudley Hosin, Prayer MinistryCoordinator - JAMU.

    (3) Elders and Pastors Family Fun Day Set ForAugust 25, 2013

    NB. Please read in this week's announcements.

    The East Jamaica Conference Elders' Association invites members of the church to bring their families

    and make it a big family fun day on August 25, 2013 when elders, pastors and their families will have aday of fun and relaxation with the family at the Mico University College Playground, 1a Marescaux RoadKingston 5.

    Come join us in a game of cricket, football, netball, table games and ring games as pastors, elders and

    church members interact in an atmosphere of love and fellowship.

    Make it a day for the family. Assorted food items and snacks will be available on sale.

    (4) IAD Health Ministries Department presents Breathe Free Training Session- August 1-3, 2013

    The Health Ministries Department of East Jamaica Conference will participate three (3) days of theupcoming Breathe Free (stop smoking) training Session, which will be held at Central JamaicaConference Office from August 1 to 3, 2013. The session begins at 9:00 a.m sharp and will beconducted by the Inter-American Division and General Conference Health Ministries Department.

    If you are interested to be trained as a Breathe Free Lifestyle Facilitator, learning about: TobaccoAddiction and how to conduct a Stop Smoking Programme, then this programme is for you. Please

    register now by sending in your name in to the East Jamaica Conference by July 31, 2013.

    At the moment the only cost to the attendees is lunch and supper, which is $950.00 per day.

    Interested persons will also have to provide their own transportation to and from the venue.

    (5) Notices from the Children's Ministries Department

    1. Child Preachers training session will be held on Sunday July 28, 2013 from 9a.m. 1 p.m.Kindly remember to practice your punch line. This is your last big class before graduation.

    2. All CMDs are asked to conduct the KIDS in Discipleship Training at your churches. Kindlyask your pastors to pick up your packages.

    3. Levels 2 & 3 Leaders Certification course will be done via Distance Training. All CMDs areasked to pick up the package or access this on line. The final sessions will be held at GoldenAcres /EJC Board Room in November 2013.

    4. CMDs, register your Jewels now for the special KIDS in the Kitchen forum. Included in

    this is a special seminar package for our Jewels. This will be held October 24-27, 2013 @

    Holiday Inn Resort, Montego Bay. A contribution- $6,000 including return fare. This will

    cover the cost of transportation, seminar package, presenters and facilitators. Kindly call the

    5. Childrens Ministries Emphasis Day and Child Preachers recognition Day August 3, 2013.CMDs you are asked to recognize those children who have been involved in the ministry(child preachers, childrens day preachers, etc.). You could do this during Childrens StoryTime.

    6. ASI Missionaries to Costa Rica depart Norman Manley August 1, 2013 for their 3 weeks

    mission trip.

    7. VBSpackage is available. Contribution $1,000 & $2,000. Consult your Pastor & ChurchBoard and pick up your package thereafter. Those who require VBS certificates are asked torequest this in advance.

    8. International Childrens Week of Prayer- October 13-19, 2013. Please contact the office fordetails.

    9. Adventist Childrens Day October 19, 2013

    (6) Notices from the Women's Ministries Department

    1. WMDs, kindly send us the names of the GEMS that your church board is sponsoring for the 4 dayretreat/ seminar for October 2013. We need to book their place in the first batch of 120 persons at thecost that is advertised. There will be a new rate after the first 120 room spaces are filled.

    2. Levels 2 & 3 Leaders Certification course will be done via Distance Training. All WMDs areasked to pick up the package or access this on line. Then go through the material with your teammembers. The final sessions will be held at Golden Acres /EJC Board Room in November 2013.

    3.Mistaken IdentityChurches that wish to take advantage of this impactful, timely presentation-beneficial especially to our young females are asked to call the office or Sis. Paula Holmes.Abuse Prevention Day in all churches Sabbath, August 31, 2013. You are asked to remind thecongregants. A short one minute statement can be read by the church clerk or a statement put in thebulletin.

    (7) Notices from the Youth Ministries Department

    (a) Summer Camp:- The annual summer camp will be held from August 13-20, 2013 at Robins Bay.Cost has been reduced to $6,000 (includes a T-Shirt). Groups of five will enjoy a further 5% discount. Each

    church is being asked to send a delegate.

    Youth start planning to be there. Last year was great but this year promises to be greater, more fun,fellowship and spiritual nurture. Summer Camp is for everyone not just members. Registration closes onJuly 26, 2013. Summer Camp Application Forms can be accessed from the EJC website. Click here.

    Andrews SDA Church

    The Andrews Memorial SDA Church presents its annual Harvest this weekend, July 27 and 28, 2013. Joinus for Sabbath Services at 8am and 11am, on July 27. Harvest Brunch & Entertainment will be on Sunday,July 28 starting at 11am. There will be free bounceabout for the children as well as poetry, music and

    games. Join us at 29 Hope Road this weekend.

    Zone Four Youth FederationThe Zone Four Youth Federation will host its Sports Day on August 1, 2013 at the Seaforth High Schoolbeginning at 9:00 am. Members of the various churches in Zone 4 are invited to wear their respectivecolours.

    Trupurpose Ministries to impact New Haven SDA Church - July 27, 2013

    TruPurpose Ministries is comprised of a group of dynamic young people, all passionate about helpingothers to discover their divinely orchestrated purpose in life. Their message of Purpose is inspired fromJeremiah 29:11-13, Proverbs 19:21, & Jeremiah 1:5 and seeks to promote the importance of each of usseeking after God to find His specific plans and purposes for our respective lives.

    This programme encourages youth and mature members of congregation to prayerfully ask God to show usHis Gifts and Talents so that we may use them to be a blessing and inspiration to others.

    The programme format is musical in nature and usually features informative presentations from PierreWright (founder), Denise Antoinette Simpson (co-founder). This week they will be journeying to the NewHaven SDA Church and they invite you to journey with them as they seek to take you on a spiritualjourney. Thats TruPurpose Ministries at the New Haven SDA Church on Sabbath afternoon at 4:30pm.You cant afford to miss it!

    Rollington Town SDA Church

    The Rollington Town SDA Church will be having a special day to celebrate the end of Jamaicas 50thAnniversary on Sabbath, August 3, 2013 with the theme of Forward, Forever, United in Christ. TheDivine Service Speaker will be Pastor Eric Nathan, Family life Director of Jamaica Union and formerchurch Pastor and the Jamaica Constabulary Force band will perform between 4:30 and 5:30 pm. The daywill end with a harvest celebration and sale after sunset. Please see attached flyer for other details.

    Christ the Answer Gospel Campaign Continues

    The church is invited to pray for and visit "Christ Is the Answer" Gospel Campaign which began onSunday July 21, 2013 on the grounds of the New Haven SDA Church, 17 - 19 Columbus Drive, Kgn 20with Evangelist Collin Lyons and team. - 6 -

    (11) Update From the Communication Department.

    This week we turn attention to some of the activities taking place on our facebook page. Currently the EastJamaica Conferences facebook page has 1, 196 likes. We would love to increase this number to over 3,000 inthe coming two months. Increasing the number of likes for our page means, that more individuals will be able

    to receive updates from items posted on our home page. We believe that this is a powerful tool thattechnology has afforded us to be able to share with you the mission activities of the Church in East Jamaica.

    We invite you to browse our page and view the most recent updates.
