(1) Healthy Lifestyle Retreat 2013

The Health Ministries Department of East Jamaica Conference invites you to their annual Lifestyle Retreat

at Golden Acres, Golden Spring, which started yesterday, Thursday June 13, 2013 and will run through

until Sunday June 16, 2013. The event will include the following features: How to make home remedies,

Vegetarian cooking, Massage techniques, presentations on Cancers of the breast and prostate, managing

back pains, colon irrigation, treating cardiovascular diseases and much more! For those who can make it on

Sabbath and Sunday, the presentations beginning at 9:15am on Sabbath and 10:00am on Sunday.

Remember, your health is your wealth!

(2) ASI Emphasis Day climaxes with Economic Forum- June 15, 2013

The ASI East Chapter celebrates ASI emphasis day on Sabbath June 15, 2013. They invite you to join them at the

Meadowvale SDA Church, 1-3 Chancery Street Meadowbrook Kingston 19, for a special day of worship and

thanksgiving under the theme: Blessed to Serve. Join them from 9:15am all the way through until vespers. They

will climax the days celebration with a grand Economic Forum at the Andrews Memorial SDA Church beginning

at 7pm sharp. Main Speaker: The Honourable Anthony Hylton- Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce.

We invite you to make every effort to attend this forum in light of our global economic challenges.

(3) Vision One Million Baptism- June 29, 2013

On Sabbath June 29, churches across the East Jamaica Conference will be participating in another exciting

Vision One Million Baptismal Celebration! We ask that you plan specially for this day and make the necessary

arrangements to record the names and as well as the number of individuals that are baptized on this day. Please

submit the information requested to the Ministerial Department no later than Tuesday July 2. We look forward to

a grand Sabbath day of worship, praise and Thanksgiving!

(4) East Jamaica Conference hosts Singles Convention 2013

The East Jamaica Conference in association with the Jamaica Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventistspresent 'Singles Convention 2013' under the theme 'Living Your Dreams'. The convention will take place duringthe period August 2325. It promises to be inspirational. Begin to tell your friends about it and plan from nowto be there.

(5) Big City Evangelism Initiative - The Next Big Thing in Evangelism is Here

By now you might have heard your pastor speaking about "Big City Evangelism" as the next evangelism

strategy for the Seventh-day Adventist Church worldwide. The leadership of our church under the guidanceof the Holy Spirit have decided to take the gospel message to every major city of every country in a waythat it has never done before during the period 2013 - 2014.

For Jamaica, the city of Kingston and its environs have been chosen as the mission field for the largest andmost comprehensive evangelistic outreach effort the church in Jamaica has ever embarked upon. Successin this mission is guaranteed only if we unite with the Holy Spirit and allow the Lord to lead in every stepof the way.

"So what does this have to do with me?" you ask yourself. "If the church wants to take on anotherchallenge, let the church do as it sees fit," says that quite but defiant voice.

Well not quite so my friend. You are a part of the church and the Lord needs you to play your part in thishistoric event. Here's how.

As of now, begin to pray for the "Big City Evangelism Initiatives" across the world but in particular prayfor our campaign which will be launched all over city Kingston in 2014. If you haven't heard anything asyet from your church pastor, begin to ask. He will tell you more.

July 6, 2013 has been set aside as a Day of Prayer and Fasting in our Conference. We will use this dayalong with other times to ask for the Lord's blessings for this important initiative.

Jesus ministry, to a great extent, was city centred.

Matthew 9:35-38: And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues,preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom; and healing every sickness and disease. But when He saw themultitude, He was moved with compassion for them . . .

We will follow the Lord's example in this regard. Remember to start praying about this. Ask you pastorabout this and of the plans for "Big City Evangelism" in your area.

(6) Notices from the Children's Ministries Department

1. ASI Missionaries to Costa Rica we walk by faith not by sight. Please pick up your sponsorship forms.

2. Team members to the midyear retreat/ relaxation on Sunday June 23, 2013 @ the Mahogany Beach Park, OchoRios, St. Ann are asked to send your entry fee of $300.00 to the office by Wednesday June 13, 2013. Pleasremember to pack your picnic baskets for the journey.

3. Kingston & St. Andrew, Child Preachers Training will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2013, from 9 a.m. 12

noonat the EJC Board Room. All participants are to bring a sermon as well as the assignments.

4. St. Thomas Child Preachers Training will begin July 6, 2013. Kindly pick up your training packages.

5. CMDs kindly send in the names of all children who were engaged as preachers as well as the topic of theirsermon.

6. Kindly send the names of the children who were baptized for 2013 as well as their ages and gender.

7. VBS packageDaniel and his Friends, is available at the office.

8. October Retreat 2013 is open to our Jewels/Children 12 years and under. The contribution is J$5,000. This amounshould be paid in full on or before July 30, 2013. This will be used to assist in offsetting the cost for their seminapresenters. Special condition No child, 12 years and under will be allowed in any of the GEMS or mentorseminars. Departure time is Thursday October 24 and Friday, October 25, 2013.

(7) Notices from the Women's Ministries Department

1. You are invited to the I.M.A.P launch @ 4 p.m. on Sabbath, June 15, 2013 @ the North Street SDAChurch. Our speaker is Dr. Eric Nathan. All males will be treated to a special Happy Hour immediatelyafter the charge with humorist, Geraldene Pinnock. Invite your visitors along. WM & F/L Directors ortheir representatives are expected to be in attendance. It is anticipated that this activity will be celebrated a

least annually in all churches.

Tips for Parents

Parents, as children, we dont need violent parents; we need calm fathers who would never hurt us. We

dont need stressed- out fathers either; we need relaxed parents who take care of themselves so they can

be healthy to take care of us. Remember, Children live what they learn.

(9) Update From the Communication Department.

This week we turn the spotlight on the Riverton Meadows SDA Church who captured theMinister of Education, Reverend Ronnald Thwaites, as he brought greetings to thecongregation at their recently held Childrens Day Service.

I use this opportunity to commend Sister Barbara Gayle and her team, who have captured andrecorded this important event. No doubt, the churchs history is being documented as wespeak! Good job guys!
