The casting call issue for Jurassic World 3 was cancelled Friday, even as word had just made it around the regu-lar press channels. Jurassic World 3 will be filming in Merritt between Feb. 25 & March 6, starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Isabella Sermon & Laura Dern.

City Council meeting Feb 11/20On the agendaSupport for the Chamber
Arising out of the Feb 4th Committee of the Whole meeting, Council will vote to ratify that the City provide the Merritt and District Chamber of Commerce with funding in the amount of $5,000 from the Council Contingency fund. And that they work as a partner with the group, to establish the Chamber as the primary voice for businesses in Merritt.Grants in Aid
City Council will be asked to vote on the Grants In Aid, as outlined at the Feb 4th Committee of the Whole meeting.
In the 2020 financial plan there is $50,000 set aside for Grant in Aid re-quests, approved in October 2019. A list of the potential recipients is included online: about $13,000 of the $50,000 is in-kind donations, ie. use of City facilities.
Other Grants in Aid include the Ca-nadian Country Music Heritage Society Hand Print Refurbishing $2125; Mer-ritt Country Christmas $4000; creation of a 5-year plan to guide the growth of the NV Rodeo Assoc. $7500; and Merritt Curling Club Roof replacement $7500; among others.Airport Advisory Committee
The City of Merritt received 16 appli-cations from members of the community interested in sitting on the Airport Advi-sory Committee. Council will discuss & recommend appointment of 5-7 commit-tee members including a council member at the 6pm closed meeting, with final ap-pointment take placing place during the Regular Council meeting.
