  • What is Federal Work Study? Work-Study is a need-based Federal subsidy program and part of the financial aid package It offers students the opportunity to earn money through part-time employment to help defray educational costs Employment positions in the program should help students gain experience in a field related to their course of study Students gain valuable work experience, potentially reduce student loans and family contribution

  • How does FWS work? How does FWS work? Eligible students are awarded a given amount of funding for the academic year Jobs are highly competitive; students are selected on a first-come, first-served basis FWS jobs are REAL jobs with duties and responsibilities just like a part-time position

  • Alternative Break Program Mission The mission of ABP is to prepare the JMU community to be educated and enlightened citizens committed to positive social change by providing reflective experiential opportunities with diverse community partners

Opportunities to serve throughout the community, country, and world during Weekend, Thanksgiving, Winter, Spring, and May breaks We perform direct service with non-profit organizations that address poverty, education reform, refugee resettlement, the environment, homelessness, health, community wellness, and more!
